| | P4NE’s Roundup No.6 | We want to see the new economy ecosystem grow, deepen its relationships and make greater progress together. We think that illuminating work and ideas across different aspects of the ecosystem and bringing more coherence to the field as a whole is one way of doing this. This monthly roundup is one of our contributions. | Ten(ish) things on our radar this month… | A new web platform developed by two of our grantees, ZOE Institute and WEAll, offering an interactive journey through Wellbeing Economy Policy Design. It features 15 new resources inspired by participatory pilots run in California, Canada, New Zealand and Scotland. We love the look of this Masters programme at Black Mountain College - Sustainable Futures: Arts, Ecology and Systems Change. The founder of Dark Matter Labs, one of our grantees, was featured in the Financial Times this month. DML have also published a new piece on Financing City Transitions. What if Legal Personhood Included Plants, Rivers, and the Planet? Journalist Amy Westervelt explores the fascinating stories behind some of the 200 rights of nature cases underway, in a new podcast called Damages. A powerful talk on 3000-year-old solutions to modern problems, including four indigenous land management strategies which ‘protect and augment the very things that give us life’, from scholar and community organizer of Diné and Tsétsêhéstâhese lineages, Lyla June. Weekly Earth Wins - Zahara Biabani shares global climate good news each week (and dances on the way). Suriya Aisha, urges us to think about how racism and the growth of capitalism are interlinked: "If we can’t be truthful about the interwoven nature of economics, capitalism and racism, then there will be no new world of economics, just a new way of keeping certain communities and people in power.” An article reflecting on the strategic means and political prospects for the green transformation. It’s important to ground transitions work in local places too. We love this piece, “The experts are already here”, which reminds us of the role of local knowledge in sustainability transitions. A short-film animation ‘Don’t tell Me to Just Breathe’ from CUSP (Centre for the Understanding of Sustainable Prosperity), linking mental health decline to systemic dependency on economic growth and climate breakdown. There’s been more on degrowth this month - Degrowth: A dangerous idea or the answer to the world’s biggest crisis? And The Degrowth Paradox: It's growing. “The last few years have seen immense...growth...in degrowth. It feels like degrowth is beginning to be significantly broached in culture, politics and economics, and certainly now more than ever”. Reviving the Law of Networks, Platforms and Utilities, a new casebook reintroducing tools to address critical issues in sectors such as transportation, energy, finance, and technology. “We hope the book will help scholars, students, and policymakers better understand how critically important sectors of the economy have been governed—and how the tools of NPU law can help address some of the most pressing problems of our time.’
