News from The Tree House - March 2015
On April 14, 2015 the Montgomery County Council will be issuing at proclamation about Child Abuse Prevention Month.  The Tree House will be specifically highlighted for the work we do to help abused and neglected children in Montgomery County.  You can help us continue this work by donating on 4/14/15, our first "Giving Day."

Your donations will help us transport children to the services they need!
Just over a month to go and The Tree House CAC will again host its biggest event of the year!  Come join us on May 2nd for a day of fun, festivities, philanthropy, and COOKIES!
We've been hard at work planning our Third Annual Tree House Tour de Cookie! Our goal is to raise awareness of the services we provide at The Tree House and have a great day for families, children, and children-at-heart.  What is The Tree House Tour de Cookie, you ask?  Well, it's a bike ride from cookie stand to cookie stand followed by a community expo with exhibitors, food, and entertainment.   Serious cyclists can choose to ride a challenging 40 mile route, while families usually choose the more leisurely 14 mile route.  In either case, it is a joyous and sweet day!

There are so many ways to be a part of The Tree House Tour de Cookie:
  • Be a Sponsor
    • We have new and exciting promotional item sponsorships available, but you must contact us soon.  Time is running out!
    • Our current sponsors include:
  • Ride as an Individual or a Team
    • We expect between 400 and 500 riders this year and want YOU to be one of them.  If you are planning to ride, please register by April 19th so we can guarantee you will receive a shirt.  We really want you to have a shirt!  Any registrants after that date are not guaranteed a shirt.
    • Why ride alone?  Create a team of 10 or more riders and receive a discount! Together you can ride toward your cookie dreams!  Click here for registration information
  • Be an Exhibitor at our Expo
  • Be a Food Vendor at our Expo
    • Do you own a restaurant, catering company, or food truck?  Contact us to sell food to our hungry riders on May 2nd.
  • Be an Entertainer at our Expo
    • Do you have artistic talent?  Can you juggle? Are you a caricaturist?  Can you make balloon animals? Are you a magician?  Do you have something to offer that is family-friendly?  If so, contact us!
  • Volunteer at the Event
    • We are in need of responsible volunteers on May 2nd to help us register riders, hand out shirts, assist with the raffle, direct riders in the right direction, and clean up during and after the event.  If you are interested, contact us.
  • Host a Cookie Stand or Bake for a Cookie Stand
    • It looks like all of our cookie stands are claimed for this year, but there's a chance we could use more backup bakers.  If you are interested in helping out, contact us.  If you are able to attend, we would love to see you at our cookie stand meeting on Wednesday, March 25th at 7pm at The Tree House (7300 Calhoun Place, Suite 600, Derwood, MD 20855).
  • Donate an Item to our Raffle
    • We're looking for fun and interesting experiences, goods, and services.  All riders are automatically entered in our raffles, so it's a great way to promote your business.  Download our donor application here.
  • Advertise your business or organization by putting flyers in all the riders' packets.  Download the backpack insert form here.
  • Help us spread the word about The Tree House Tour de Cookie!
    • Put up a flyer in your office, school, community gathering spot, or place of worship.  Download a flyer here.  We still have some posters available, so if you know of a place where cyclists and/or families would see it, contact us and we'll get one to you.

Hmm...perhaps this can be the beginning of your Tree House Tour de Cookie training!

TITLE Boxing Club's Self-Defense and Awareness Event was a Huge Success!

The idea came from a truly extraordinary young person, Kayla Friedman. Then, working with Stephanie Forlenza of
TITLE Boxing Club Rockville, Kayla made it happen. The crowds came out to learn about self-defense and support The Tree House in the process. Kayla and Stephanie raised awareness in more ways than one and for that we thank them and TITLE Boxing Club. We hope we can do this again sometime soon. It was a fantastic evening!

Are you missing these great events that benefit The Tree House?  From classes to great sales to relaxing evenings with friends, there is truly is something for everyone!  For that, we can thank our friends throughout the community who are the event creators and hosts.  Be sure to check here periodically and see what's going on near you!
