Hepatitis B s100 Prescriber Course for GPs and nurse practitioners in Latrobe
Cancer Council Victoria is calling on nurse practitioners and general practitioners who work in Latrobe Local Government Area to apply for a Hepatitis B s100 Prescriber Course Scholarship of $1500.
This advanced level training enables health professionals to effectively diagnose, manage and treat chronic hepatitis B in primary care settings.
The course is delivered online and includes three, two-hour live webinars, video modules and the successful completion of a short assignment and online assessment. Limited spaces available so scholarships will be given on a first come first serve basis.
In Victoria, the course is managed by VHHITAL and delivered online. As this course is offered free of charge by VHHITAL, the scholarship is reimbursing medical practitioners an amount for their time to complete the course.

Mental Health First Aid
The 12-hour Standard Mental Health First Aid course teaches adults (18 years and over) how to provide initial support to someone who is experiencing a mental health problem or crisis.
Participants will learn about the signs and symptoms of common mental health problems in adults, how to provide initial help, where and how to get professional help, what sort of help has been shown by research to be effective, and how to provide first aid in a crisis situation.

Evidence-based training to help you become more trauma-informed
This evidence-informed, expert-led online training from Pheonix Austtralia will help create an emotionally safe environment for, and to interact with, people who are trauma-impacted in such a way that allows for their recovery from trauma while looking after your own well-being.
Funded by the Victorian Department of Health, there are limited spots available for free for people and organisations supporting communities in Victoria that have been greatly affected by the pandemic.

AOD Learning Platforms for health professionals
To better support general practitioners and health professionals across the region to better support their patients overcome the impacts of Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD), a Gippsland specific learning platform with evidence-based education modules and resources is now available.
Australian General Practice Accreditation Limited (AGPAL) and Quality Innovation Performance Limited (QIP) have partnered with Gippsland PHN to develop and deliver educational support and resources to assist with delivery of drug and alcohol training to GPs and other health professionals in Gippsland region.

Early detection and management of chronic kidney disease
Eastern Melbourne PHN is hosting this online event on behalf of Kidney Health Australia.
It features the presentation of a case study that discusses the importance of early detection for those at risk of chronic kidney disease, how to detect chronic kidney disease, and current treatment options to delay the progression of this underdiagnosed disease.

Trauma Informed Practice - Latrobe Regional Hospital
Trauma Informed Practice sessions are being delivered by Latrobe Regional Hospital in Wonthaggi and Traralgon.
Trauma is common among adults and children in social service systems. See some statistics below:
- 98% of female offenders have experienced trauma often interpersonal trauma and domestic violence
- 96% of adolescent psychiatric inpatients have histories of exposure to trauma
- 93% of homeless mothers have a lifetime history of interpersonal trauma
- 90% of juvenile justice involved youth have experienced trauma, often multiple traumas from an early age

End of Life Law
The End of Life Law for Clinicians (ELLC) is a free national training program for health professionals.
The module is designed for medical practitioners, medical students, nurses, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health practitioners and health workers and allied and other health professionals. It aims to help clinicians:
- Understand legal considerations that can arise in the context of caring for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples and families at the end of life.
- Recognise how health professionals can provide Culturally Safe and Culturally Responsive end of life care.

Eating Disorders
Core Skills
National Eating Disorders Collaboration presents Eating Disorder Core Skills: eLearning for GPs, an accredited professional development and training course that provides GPs with the key information needed to provide best practice care for patients with eating disorders.
- The training is free and is accredited by the RACGP as a CPD Accredited Activity (40 points).
- The course provides foundational training for GPs to equip them to be able to understand, identify and assess eating disorders, provide medical treatment, lead the multidisciplinary team, manage MBS items and provide ongoing recovery support.

Osteoporosis management for general practitioners
The University of Melbourne has developed a learning hub for GPs who would like to know more about osteoporosis management.
In collaboration with The University of Melbourne, Praxhub will be hosting a Small Group Learning activity for GPs to discuss the prevention of osteoporosis and fractures, difficult-to-manage cases, investigations, treatment options, and monitoring.
