Building Therapeutic Communication in the context of Palliative Care and Voluntary Assisted Dying

Safety and Suicide Intervention Training (SSIT) is an education package designed to support clinicians who work with consumers experiencing acute suicidal crisis.

Conversations about Suicide

Facilitated by Latrobe Regional Hospital, LivingWorks and Lifeline Gippsland, this four-hour Mental Health First Aid Conversations about Suicide course teaches any adult (18 years and over) how to identify, approach and support someone who is experiencing suicidal thoughts and behaviours.

Learn how to identify the warning signs for suicide, how to safely have a conversation with someone experiencing suicidal thoughts and behaviours and confidently support the person in crisis.
 
Participants will also have the opportunity to practice these skills in a safe environment.

Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training

Facilitated by Latrobe Regional Hospital, LivingWays and Lifeline Gippsland, this course is mandatory training for ALL new mental health staff and all existing who have not attended the two-day course since December 2014 or not attended the tune-up consecutively every two years.
 
The two-day training workshop is an intensive participatory course designed to help participants as care givers recognise and assess people at risk of suicide and to implement an effective suicide intervention model.

Sexual Reproductive Health Forum - Gippsland Centre Against Sexual Assault

Sexual Lives and Respectful Relationships is a program for talking and learning about sexuality and relationship rights, sexual health, and violence and abuse prevention.

Improving clinical psychology competencies in working with older adults in Rural Residential Aged Care Facilities


This series of workshops has been developed to upskill psychologists working in regional and rural Victoria to work therapeutically with aged care residents.
 
Each workshop will comprise a one-hour webinar followed by a one-hour peer supervision discussion.

Diagnosis and Treatment of PTSD in Emergency Service Workers


This workshop with the Black Dog Institute has been designed with a focus on GPs to assist in diagnosing patients with acute stress disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder and other comorbidities.

Evidence-based guidelines will be used as the foundation to appropriately diagnose and identify treatment pathways including recommended referrals, trauma focused psychological therapy and psychological first aid to help support the management of emergency service workers. The training may also be relevant to other health professionals.

The Benchmarque Group has recently launched its new free online-only Foundations of Chronic Disease program.

Delivered completely online, the program is aimed at a range of health professionals working within Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Health or have Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander clients, and is estimated to take less than 10 hours to complete.

Rural Workforce Agency of Victoria Scholarship

Focussed psychological strategies skills training for general practitioners.

RACGP and the Rural Workforce Agency of Victoria (RWAV) are offering 100 scholarships to Victorian GPs in Modified Monash Model (MMM) 3-7 and GPs working in an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation in (MMM) 1-2 + (MMM) 3-7  locations to complete Focussed Psychological Strategies Skills Training (FPS ST).
