Long Acting Injectable Buprenorphine- the latest option in the treatment of opioid dependence
Gippsland PHN is partnering with the Gippsland Pharmacotherapy Network to deliver this CPD approved face-to-face education.
Targeted to general practitioners, nurse practitioners and pharmacists, the session aims to provide education to prescribers on long-acting injectable buprenorphine (LAIB), a treatment option for opioid dependant patients.
Topics include:
• benefits of LAIB versus current treatment options,
• practical considerations/ requirements for handling and dispensing LAIB
• facilitated discussion regarding LAIB use for patients located in Gippsland

Fully funded APNA online training for CVC care coordinators ending soon
The Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) has provided funding to the Australian Primary Health Care Nurses Association (APNA) for a capped number of fully funded training licences to nurses and/or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care Workers who have patients participating in the Coordinated Veterans’ Care (CVC) Program.
Care coordinators need to apply before 21 June 2022 to access a training licence for free, however the modules can be completed at any time and at your own pace.

Improving clinical psychology competencies in working with older adults in Rural Residential Aged Care Facilities
This series of workshops has been developed to upskill psychologists working in regional and rural Victoria to work therapeutically with aged care residents.
Each workshop will comprise a one-hour webinar followed by a one-hour peer supervision discussion.

Free mental health first aid training in East Gippsland
This 12-hour Standard Mental Health First Aid course teaches any adult (18 years and over) how to provide initial support to someone who is experiencing a mental health problem or crisis.
Conducted by Mental Health First Aid Training Australia, participants will learn about the signs and symptoms of common mental health problems in adults, how to provide initial help, where and how to get professional help, what sort of help has been shown by research to be effective, and how to provide first aid in a crisis situation.
This Mental Health First Aid course is provided free of charge for East Gippsland and Wellington Shires to aid in Bushfire Recovery.
