New blog post: What did 2½ years of new gTLDs bring (and cost)?

Get a unique insight in the business case around new gTLDs at Openprovider with a thorough analysis of what the new gTLDs have brought - and cost - over the first 2½ years of their existence. What characteristics do we see, how do our customers benefit and how do the new extensions compare to the "old" ones?

New accreditations: .pl, .lt, .cx and .fm

Openprovider is always working on new accreditations in order to provide our customers with the best possible price and service. On the 2nd of August, we will activate our own accreditations for .pl, .lt, .cx and .fm.

NIC AT introduces short .at domains

The minimum length of a .at domain has always been three characters. That is about to change! Starting this summer, registry NIC AT will enable the registration of shorter domain names: names counting just 1 or 2 characters. This introduction starts with a Sunrise and a public auction.

Price changes 10 Donuts extensions

Registry Donuts has informed us that on the 1st of October 2016, 10 of their extensions will be subject to a price increase. The new Member price for domains in all these extensions will become $33.18, unless the domain is marked as premium. The tier prices will raise with $13.00 as well.

Price increase in validation fees fTLD and Dominion Registry

Both fTLD Registry (.bank) and Dominion Registries (.autos, .boats, .homes, .motorcycles and .yachts) will change the fees for rejected domain names on the 1st of August. While .bank already has such a validation fee, Dominion Registries will introduce one.

Some registries start their General Availability with a so-called Early Access Program (EAP). The EAP helps registrants immediately secure the domain names they’ve always wanted. Likewise, brand owners have an opportunity to obtain non-trademark domain names to help promote and protect brands, or register terms that dominate a market or industry.

  • 1 September: .shop

More information about the EAP and why you should use it can be found in the blog.
