One of our promises with our unique subscription based Membership model is that we forward any financial advantage, related to the included extensions, to our customers. Every quarter we re-investigate our cost prices and adjust them if necessary. This quarter we have been able to realize price reductions on three of our extensions.
Being a trademark holder can be a tough job these days: many hundreds of new extensions equal many hundreds of new threats against your protected mark. Someone can protect his brand actively or passively, but in some cases it really seems to be on the back of the trademark holder. There’s one registry that promotes this to a whole new level…
We are continuously optimizing systems to be able to handle the increasing domain volumes. One of the bottlenecks coming up is the daily renewal process: the higher the number of domains under management, the higher the number of domains that require renewal daily. This process has completely been rebuilt, although most changes will be invisible to you.
Openprovider is always working on new accreditations in order to provide our customers with the best possible price and service. On the 5th of July, we will activate our own accreditations for .pro and .lv.
Disguise your domain data with privacy protection service
WPP or Whois Privacy Protection is a service that Openprovider now offers publicly to all its customer base. Enabling WPP on the domain disguises your identity and provides proxy contact information in the Whois.
On the 19th of July, the downloadable CSV file that you can retrieve through the domain overview page in the control panel will be extended by a field “DNSSEC status”. This additional field shows whether or not a domain is secured with DNSSEC. Customers automatically parsing this file should be aware of this new field, which is placed directly after the nameserver list.
The promotional prices are valid only for new 1-year registrations and do not apply to multi-year registrations, transfers and renewals.
Latest updates on the new gTLDs
Announcements and updates regarding new gTLDs:
.shop: has reverted their decision to charge Sunrise orders a premium renewal fee; Sunrise domains will be renewed at regular General Availability prices after the first year of registration.
.gdn: has been released after we initially skipped it. This extension is in General Availability without trademark claims active anymore.
.gmbh: the trademark claims period will run until the 11th of September 2016 (instead of the 13th of September).
.中文网 and .在线: the registry is in the process of moving to another back-end provider. Status is unclear, probably you will be able to manage and register domains in these extensions by the end of this week again.
Do you want to register your domains at cost price from now on?
