Boonton UMC

July 31, 2022
8th Sunday after Pentecost

Sunday worship at 11:15am -
In-Person and on YouTube
Boonton UMC: A fun, musical, relevant, relational, and compassionate church
where people find hope, healing, and wholeness.
This week, we come to the hardest to pronounce of all the players on our Minor League Prophet baseball team: Habakkuk! Though his name may be hard to pronounce, we guarantee you that his message is one that will be easy to relate to and that you won't want to miss, because his message has tremendous relevance for our lives today.

We only have a left fielder, center fielder, right fielder, second baseman, and relief pitcher left on the team. Where will Habakkuk and the others on our Minor League Prophet baseball team be? You'll have to join us each week in the remaining weeks ahead to find out!

We are excited and grateful to announce that Debra Catena will be preaching our sermon this Sunday! And whether in-person or on YouTube, we hope you can join us at 11:15am Sunday at Boonton UMC as we continue our summer sermon series!

And be sure to say hello to our friends from Montville UMC, who will be joining us this Sunday at Boonton UMC for a joint service with us!

Special Reminder

**Pastor Donald will be away from Thursday, July 28th through Wednesday, August 3rd. For pastoral emergencies, please call Rev. Steve Bechtold at (973) 214-1698.**

if you can't join us in-person, know that you're welcome to join us via Zoom at the following link:
https://us02web.zoom.us/j/8537182720?pwd=bmdLSEhCOGVOdzNSU0J2azcvM1QvZz09

In "Love Story," Nichole Nordeman takes us inside some of the pivotal moments of the people of Scripture, revealing a very human side that we have rarely glimpsed. She offers startlingly frank glimpses of her own struggles and faith journey, inspiring us to take the hand of the One who walks with us, who has always walked with us, from beginning to end.

A New Hotline Number to Be Mindful of and to Share with Others
As of July 16, 2022, the U.S. has transitioned to using the 988-dialing code, and it is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to strengthen and expand the existing Lifeline. 988 is more than just an easy-to-remember number—it’s a direct connection to compassionate, accessible care and support for anyone experiencing mental health-related distress – whether that is thoughts of suicide, mental health or substance use crisis, or any other kind of emotional distress. In 2020, Congress designated the new 988 dialing code to operate through the existing National Suicide Prevention Lifeline’s (1-800-273-8255) network of over 200 locally operated and funded crisis centers across the country. People can also dial 988 if they are worried about a loved one who may need crisis support. The 988 dialing code is just a first step toward strengthening and transforming crisis care in this country. It serves as a universal entry point so that no matter where you live, you can reach a trained crisis counselor who can help. Over time, the vision for 988 is to have additional crisis services available in communities across the nation, much the way emergency medical services work. Click Here to Read More.
