Everything you need to get through the busiest month of the year!

Hello <<First Name>>

I blinked and suddenly it was December! Does it feel like that for you too?
Over the years I’ve shared strategies to make the festive season less stressful. Some revolve around triaging inessential deadlines, transforming ‘must catch up before Christmas’ requests into leisurely January picnics and accepting that there are some obligations where the only thing I can change is my attitude.
After a busy year, I’ve put these strategies into action, dedicating December to naturopathic and mentoring consultations, working one-on-one with clients. This year has been studded with conferences, presentations, workshops and a retreat. While these collaborations have been invigorating, with lots of travel near and far, I’ve treasured spending more time at home, in the clinic and garden.
I’ve also been fermenting wild sodas like there’s no tomorrow! The best so far was made from pineapple skins and ginger. There was one failure to fizz, as it used only herbs and no fruit. The natural sugar in fruit certainly kicks along the fermentation. But no problem if this happens to you, it tasted delicious frozen into ice blocks or drunk with a dash of soda.
While you’re in the kitchen, take a look at what’s in season in December and my star seasonal recipe for dolmades, that don’t have to be made with vine leaves.
Just a reminder the clinic will be closed from 20 December to 7 January. There are still appointments available this month. If you need some help, just book online. If you’re after a healthy present, gift vouchers are available to purchase on the site any day of the year.
I’d like to thank you for your support this year. I love the emails I get in response the newsletter; from readers I’m yet to meet, old clients, colleagues and RRR listeners just taking a minute to say hello. I really appreciate your feedback and updates.
I hope you make time for some R&R this summer.
In good health,

Everything you need to get through December

Congratulations, the end of the year is in sight! But these last couple of weeks of December can be easier to navigate with a few strategies, tips and recipes.

Strategies for a low stress festive season.

Delicious, vegan-inclusive Christmas fare - some delicious dishes for everyone.

Stress-less ethical Christmas gift ideas including minimal/no waste, no/low cost and make your own options.

In season in December

The summer bounty has begun. The fruit and vegetables in season in December are spectacular.
Apricots, asparagus, bananas, beans, berries, capsicum, celery, cherries, cucumber, eggplant, grapes, lettuce, lychees, mangoes, melons, nectarines, onions, oranges, passionfruit, peas, pineapple, silverbeet, tomatoes, zucchini.

What to make with mangoes

Arguably the best way to eat mango is at room temperature, just as it is. But try one of my favourite mango recipes if you're fortunate enough to have a glut.
Mango, lime and mint ice blocks
Mango with sticky rice.
Mango and mint fruit salad.

Recipe: dolmades

Ever wanted to make your own dolmades but thought it was too difficult?

It's easier than you think.

Traditionally these flavoursome rice parcels are wrapped in vine leaves. But if you can't access a grape vine, or find a deli selling preserved leaves there are some great alternative.  I love using silverbeet, chard, cabbage or cos lettuce leaves. Cos was a revelation! They’re probably the best dolmades of them all.
