Hello <<First Name>>

According to the Greek legend, autumn beings when Persephone returns to the underworld. Heartbroken her mother Demeter, goddess of the harvest, allows the crops to die until Persephone returns to her in spring.

As beautiful as golden leaves and the autumnal light are, this time of year has long been associated with a cyclic return to darkness. Our energy and moods are prone to descend, and as the weather cools we can become less active and more contemplative.

But modern life can sometimes throw these traditional patterns out of rhythm. My year so far has had more twists and turns than I expected, though paradoxically it now feels more like a return to the light rather than darkness. Like many others in Sydney my car was unexpectedly written off due to minor hailstorm damage. We've been informed that a major road tunnel will be built just metres under our house. My father received a serious health diagnosis. Beyond the clinic, my workload has been more demanding than anticipated.

But despite the hassles and worrying, happiness and hope have triumphed. I love my new car, my dad is responding well to treatment, the neighbourhood is united and a restorative vacation is not far away. I love our innate human resilience!

When I look into my future I see fun and adventure on the family holiday, another successful practitioner retreat and continuing to inhabit the work I love as a naturopath and mentor. Do you define yourself by the past or the future? If you’re in a rut, dive into the person I’m becoming exercise. You might surprise yourself with who you really want to be.

From the garden and the markets, I’m eating feijoas fresh from the tree, leafy greens and baked root vegetables. I’m loving eggs as the perfect protein hit, in salads, savoury bakes and cooked breakfasts. Want to start the day with a scramble with a twist? Check out this month’s recipe for scrambled eggs like no other. Take a guess at what the mystery ingredient is.

I will be away from the last week of April until mid-May but there are still some naturopathy and mentoring consultations available until ANZAC Day. Autumn is such a crucial time for both health and business. Don’t wait 'til yours takes a dive to get some help.

I hope you have a restorative month, doing whatever you deeply desire.

In good health,
Gill

Mentoring & supervision update

March was a massive month for mentoring. I ran a workshop on overcoming isolation in practice at the NHAA conference, was interviewed on FX Medicine Live, presented further Health Masters webinars and commenced more 1:1 work with some dynamic practitioners around the country.

The Bali practitioner retreat is almost sold out. We currently have one room left for the lucky final participant. As we may not run this practitioner experience in this format in the future, if you've been thinking of joining us - apply now as this my be your last chance. To celebrate the NHAA centenary we're offering everyone $300 off the full price, just mention "NHAA" when you apply.

Did you know that June is usually the quietest month for practitioners? With a recent budget, a federal election in the wings and the end of some private health insurance rebates, the next couple of months may be a challenging time for those who run their own health enterprise. This is the perfect time to both work on your business and plan a holiday (or even better, a retreat!)

Just as naturopathy is based on treating the individual, your business and professional supervision needs are also unique. When you work with me I draw on over 27 years of successful clinic ownership and naturopathic practice, to help you find your authentic clinical and business style.

We can work together from anywhere in the world via FaceTime or Skype, or in person in Sydney’s Inner West..
