Each year the Christmas offering we give directly supports our Southwest Region. This allows for us to support ministries beyond the monies our Region receives throughout the year from our portion of the gifts given through Disciples Mission Fund.
Our Region is in a time of great transition. Changes are happening in our congregations, our Areas and in the Region as a whole.
Recently congregations throughout the Southwest Region responded to questions from the Regional Minister Search Committee about the leadership needs for the ministry of our Region. Based upon conversations held with persons across the Region, the Search Committee determined that the best way for us to move our Region forward is with two leadership positions: a Regional Minister and a Regional Executive.
We are the largest Region in our denomination and our leadership staff is smaller than many other Regions. The specific job descriptions of these two positions were approved at the Southwest Regional Assembly this fall and can be found on the website at ccsw.org/search-committee.
To adequately fund two positions, an additional $100,000 is needed in addition to our other 2017 budget needs.
We are asking congregations to prayerfully and generously give to the Christmas offering as we move into the coming year with hope and vision.
With this email, we've attached links to a video segment and abulletin insertdesigned for use by congregations in the Southwest Region to raise awareness of the importance of the Christmas offering. We would appreciate you making sure your church office and A/V staff or volunteers have this information to use.
