Christmas is Coming

This month we start rehearsals for our 2019 Christmas Program - Runaway Joy.

Rehearsals will begin THIS SUNDAY and will take place every Sunday during FIRSTKids:
  • November 10, 17, 24
  • December 1 and 8
  • Dress Rehearsal: Saturday, December 14th
  • PRESENTATION: December 15th!

If you would like your child to participate, but they cannot attend church this Sunday, please let Pastor Katie know so we can make sure they get assigned a role!

What happens when the littlest angel is having trouble finding their joy? Why, they go on a journey to find it, of course!  Following a star and a grey dusty road, will Joy and the friends they meet along the way find what they seek?

Neighbors In Need Offering
Neighbors in Need (NIN) is a special mission offering of the UCC that supports ministries of justice and compassion throughout the United States.  One-third of the NIN funds support the Council for American Indian Ministry (CAIM).  Two-thirds of the offering is used by the UCC's Justice and Witness Ministries (JWM) to support a variety of justice initiatives, advocacy efforts, and direct service projects through grants.

Offerings will be accepted during worship on Sunday, November 17th.

EDUCATION NEWS
In a time of fractious politics, being rude can feel wickedly gratifying, while being polite can feel simple-minded or willfully naïve. Do manners and civility even matter now? Is it worthwhile to make the effort to be polite?  Our Theology Brunch for November, will discuss The Wrong of Rudeness by Amy Olberding. Join us on Thursday, November 21. Churches install solar panels as flat-out article of faith, witness. Read all about it.

Just a week after UCC clergy in Chicago announced a collaborative effort that erased $5.3 million in medical debt for almost 6,000 families who live at or below poverty on the city's south side, the denomination is laying the groundwork to continue that mission in other parts of the country.  Read more about this great new initiative.

THANK YOU!
A note from Wendy Wiseman:
"A special '
shout out' to Kathy McConnell, Jenny Pfeifer and Neva Burroughs, Pam Beranek and ever-present Bud Cassiday who helped out in the kitchen Sunday morning. It’s our family’s pleasure to serve coffee and treats to the congregation, and last Sunday was even sweeter for me to have people pitch in.
