Cyclone Debbie – Important Information for Growers

Growcom will be gathering data about the impact on the horticulture industry to enable government to activate Natural Disaster Recovery Assistance. The more information they can provide, the better the likelihood that growers will receive support.

After the cyclone, Growcom request that you fill in the damage estimate form or call us on 07 3620 3844

Growcom will call all of their members in affected areas but the faster they can get this information the more quickly they can lobby for support. If you have photographs of damage please send them to with information on the farm where they are taken and your contact details.
Updates on current disaster support can be found on the Queensland Farmers’ Federation Disaster Support website

AMIA and Growcom very much hope that none of our growers are affected by this weather event and hope that everyone remains safe and well.

If you need to contact Growcom after hours please call CEO Pat Hannan on 0427 580 942.

If you cannot download any of this information please contact Growcom on 07 3620 3844 or email them at and they will email you copies.

We're now in our last week of PR and social media activity for the 2016/17 mango season, but this hasn't stopped media from giving the end-of-season mangoes one final boost.
News Corp's key titles around the country included a mango and chicken salad in a 7 day meal plan for healthy eating, 9Kitchen published our tips for freezing and slicing mangoes, ABC radio discussed the Vitamin C benefits of mangoes, 4x4 Australia included a recipe for tropical mango trifle, Yours published a recipe for cucumber salad with prawn and mango, Over Sixty shared a recipe for coconut and mango panna cotta, and a number of APN's regional media titles discussed grower, Jessica Fealy's accomplishment as a finalist in Queensland Rural Women's Awards

On our social channels, we're wrapping up the last posts of the season, with the Facebook publishing one last mango emoji post, a harvest video by RecipeTin Eats, and our grower farewell video to thank the community for their support throughout the season, which will also be syndicated to the Instagram page.
And what better way to finish the season than acquiring our 5,000th fan on Instagram, it just shows the love Australian’s have for mangoes.

We'd like to thank everyone who contributed content for our social activity and public relations outreach throughout the season, such as interviews with local media, harvest imagery, thank you footage, Mess-tival donations, and your engagement on the social channels!
