It seems that Spring is finally truly upon us! I hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine and warm weather these days.
In deference to the gorgeous weather out there, I'll try to keep this brief. :)
1. Leighton Art Centre's Sunset Soiree, and Clothesline Festival May 31 - June 2
Above, a few of the pieces (paintings on paper, 22x30") which will be available at the Leighton Art Centre this weekend. It's their biggest yearly public event. The idea is to raise funds, and yes, artists will be paid for sales of their work :)
I'll be there all weekend doing process demos, and perhaps a few sketchbook drawings as well. Do come out and say hello, and support this dynamic education centre in the beautiful foothills of Alberta.
A few new paintings will go out to The Front Gallery in Edmonton, early next month.
These paintings are an investigation into the intelligence of the body and peripheral senses: I initially compose each one with my eyes closed.
3. Vistas of the West: Poems and Visuals of Nature
One of my plein air landscape paintings included in this soon-to-be-published book.
My art with poetry! I'm very happy and excited about this. There will be tours, too, in libraries and bookstores. Super cool.
Yes, I finally made art cards, using 10 images from my "Archaea" sketchbook. Shout out to Little Rock Printers here in Calgary for doing a bang-up job. These cards are currently available at Bluerock Gallery, who also carry my original artworks on canvas and paper.
So... when you go to the Leighton Art Centre this weekend, why not make a day of it and stop in at Bluerock Gallery as well? ;-)
