It is with mixed emotions that we have decided not to move forward with the 2016 Ignite Business Event (iBE) Expo.

Last year brought exciting new changes for the Ignite Business Event Expo, which included moving to the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, switching to a one-day format, and co-locating with the Canadian Special Events Expo, and by all measures it was a resounding success. So, you're probably asking, "Why no show then"?

Well, it was a very hard decision and, trust us, we went back and forth, up and down and sideways on this one. We have always prided ourselves on listening to the market, and acting upon the feedback we receive. We've heard repeatedly that perhaps the Canadian market can't support multiple shows as there are limited days that planners have to attend events, and equally limited marketing dollars that suppliers can invest to exhibit. So we are going to take time to research, regroup and connect with both planners and suppliers to further determine the most effective forum for bringing these vital stakeholder groups together.

 

We are so proud of what we have accomplished with our Ignite Business Event Expo over the past four years:

  • Ignite took chances and applied creativity, resulting in an "absolutely unique" expo experience that attracted senior planners who traditionally haven't attended Canadian shows.
  • Ignite elevated hosted planner programs in Canada, bringing in record numbers of out-of-town planners.
  • Ignite collaborated with the Canadian Special Events Expo last year to bring two shows together on one day, under one roof, providing a huge value proposition for the market. It was a hugely successful partnership, and we will continue to support our friends at CSE – we wish their passionate team tremendous success in their future endeavours.
  • Ignite worked closely with industry associations to create and develop Canada Meet Week, a week that united the Canadian business events community and provided six unique education and networking events.

Rest assured, this does not mean we are out of the business of providing "live" opportunities for event buyers and sellers to interact and do business. It just means that we are taking time to research more strategic and effective methods of bringing you all together.

Now that our time is "freed up", we are putting it to good use! This fall, Ignite will be launching an exciting new portfolio of engaging interactive products that will provide you with fun new ways to learn, get ideas and inspiration, grow your career and connect with your peers. Stay tuned for exciting announcements coming soon... we promise it will knock your socks off!

It is with sincerest respect that we thank all of you for your support of the Ignite Business Event Expo since its inception. You shared our passion, commitment and vision, and helped us raise the bar for the entire Canadian tradeshow industry. Thank you so much.
