State Leadership Conference (SLC) Community Service

March of Dimes
The March of Dimes is our national community service partner. Each chapter is encouraged to donate a check in the amount of $1.00 per conference attendee. Doing so, we can help babies begin a healthy life. Each chapter is encouraged to submit their check to the local March of Dimes office and turn in a March of Dimes Fundraising Report during onsite chapter check-in. If chapters choose to bring their donation to the conference, checks must be made payable to "March of Dimes" and can be turned in at the conference registration desk. (Each chapter will have an opportunity to send their chapter president or another designee on stage during the opening session to submit their chapter’s donation.)

Ronald McDonald House Can Tab Drive
By donating can tabs to the Ronald McDonald House, Tennessee FBLA members can help provide families a place to stay while their critically ill children receive inpatient or outpatient medical care at area hospitals. Chapters can collect can tabs and place them in gallon jugs. Can tabs should be donated at your local Ronald McDonald House, or they can be turned in at the registration desk at SLC. Chapters that deliver can tabs must submit the Can Tab Verification Form at registration to be recognized during the conference.

Tennessee Family Literacy Project
For a number of years, Tennessee FBLA members have collected books to donate to Tennessee families. While we encourage you to make donations of new books in your community and submit a Tennessee Family Literacy Project Donation Verification Form, during onsite chapter check-in, your chapter can submit new children's books to be donated to Chattanooga-area families.

State Leadership Conference (SLC) Aquarium Night

The mandatory dress code for the Aquarium Fun Night is the Tennessee FBLA SLC t-shirt, blue jeans, conference lanyard and name tag. Blue jeans cannot have holes and must be worn properly around the waist. Only the chapters that pre-ordered Sticky Fingers barbecue dinners will receive meal wristbands. (Click here for the aquarium flier.)

The aquarium will be open for Tennessee FBLA from 7 to 10 p.m. on Tuesday, March 21, 2017.

Tennessee FBLA Bylaw Amendment Proposals

The Tennessee FBLA bylaws shall be made available to the membership 60 days prior to the State Leadership Conference. The bylaws can always be found here.

Proposed amendments have been submitted in writing to the State Chair over 90 days prior to the annual meeting of the State Leadership Conference. Voting on adoption of proposed amendments to the state bylaws shall be at the annual meeting held at the State Leadership Conference provided they are not in conflict with the National FBLA Bylaws. Amendments may be adopted by a two-thirds vote of the voting delegates at the Annual Meeting of the State Leadership Conference.

The motivation behind these changes is to allow our state chapter to be fiscally responsible by streamlining officer positions and the corresponding duties. The changes allow for the modernization of job descriptions, which are more in line with a 21st century business and industry environment. At the same time, it provides students in these leadership positions a meaningful and enriching experience improving their college and career readiness skills.

The bylaw amendment proposals can always be found here.
