Regional Leadership Conference (RLC) Inclement Weather Plan

In order to prepare for the possibility of weather-related school closings, please carefully read the information below. We will send out text alerts through the REMIND text alert system. You will need to sign up for the text alerts (instructions below) prior to the conference and have this information on hand the morning of the event. An email alert will also be sent to advisers in addition to the text alert.

Regional Conference Cancellation Policy
  • If the school system in the county hosting the conference (Shelby, Madison, Montgomery, Coffee, Rutherford, or Knox) is closed, the conference will be cancelled.
  • If the school system in the county hosting the conference (Shelby, Madison, Montgomery, Coffee, Rutherford, or Knox) is on a one or two hour delay, the conference will be cancelled.
  • If more than 25 percent of the participating schools contact us to say that they cannot come due to weather and/or school closings, the conference will be cancelled.
  • Please see below for information on how to report inclement weather and road conditions as well as instructions on how to sign up to receive text alerts in the event that the conference is cancelled.
  • NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED IF A REGIONAL CONFERENCE IS CANCELLED DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER.

Text Alerts
TN FBLA will use the REMIND alert system to alert advisers and judges in each district about conference cancellations or delays. In order to receive the text alert in the event of a delay or cancellation, you must follow the directions below. The phone numbers below are generated by the Remind system and cannot be used for two-way communication. Those individuals wishing to receive text alerts do not have to register for an account in order to receive alerts. Simply locate the appropriate district below and text the code to the number. This one-way text system is free to sign up; data charges may apply from your carrier. The system will be used only to relay important information regarding cancellations or delays to advisers. You should receive a confirmation text indicating that you have successfully signed up to receive alerts.

Tennessee FBLA State Leadership Conference Qualifiers
If a regional conference is cancelled, test scores will be used to determine competitors advancing to compete at the Tennessee FBLA State Leadership Conference in March. For events that do not have a test (Job Interview, Impromptu Speaking, Public Speaking I and II), all registered regional competitors will be invited to compete at the state conference.

State Leadership Conference (SLC) Non-Competitive Opportunities

Voting Delegates
  • Each chapter is encouraged to bring two (2) voting delegates to the state conference. Every voting delegate must be registered as a "voting delegate" to represent their chapter in the voting delegate sessions. Competitors are NOT allowed to be voting delegates.
#LegacyofLeadershipTN Academy
  • This leadership development academy is for non-competing students only. In the #LegacyofLeadershipTN academy, students will learn strategies to develop their local chapter and engage their community while networking with Tennessee FBLA leaders of today and tomorrow. Each chapter is allotted up to two (2) spots for this academy. The academy's content will be directed to freshmen, sophomore, and junior members.
Hospitality Committee
  • The hospitality committee is the glue that holds the state conference together behind the scenes. Members of this committee will help prepare conference registration materials, welcome and escort judges to their assigned areas, serve as runners for the advisers working the competitive events, assist in setting up the opening and closing sessions, and assist the state adviser and other conference management staff as needed throughout the conference. This small group of students are the "go-to" crew for anything that needs a little extra attention or assistance during the conference. Students must apply to be a part of this team. Consider your current or potential chapter officers who are extremely responsible, mature and task-oriented for this role. The applications can be found here. Chapter advisers will be notified once all applications have been reviewed and the strongest applicants have been selected to serve in this capacity. The application deadline is February 10, 2017 by 5 p.m. CST.

State Leadership Conference (SLC) Online Testing

The online testing window for all Tennessee FBLA chapters is February 27-March 3, 2017.

Important Things to Remember:
  • You are welcome to register as many proctors as needed for your students to test efficiently.

  • All online testing must be administered during the week of February 27-March 3, 2017 between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. CST each testing day.
  • You are highly encouraged to test your students early in the week. Please avoid waiting until the last day to test your students.
All proctor instruction emails will be sent on the weekend of February 25-26, 2017.
