High School Juniors Receive Travel Grant Awards
The West 55th Street Block Association gave $500 travel grants to three outstanding juniors at the High School for Environmental Studies on West 56th Street this spring. The grants allow qualifying students a chance to visit some of the colleges outside the five boroughs to which they are thinking of applying. This is the tenth year we have given these grants!
Applicants complete an essay and a budget outlining how they would use the grant. Winners are chosen by a committee, which this year comprised Claire O, Lisa P., Susan M and Christine G.

Gabriel is interested in studying law and will visit colleges in Washington, D.C. Gabriella, who has been named a Questbridge Prep Scholar, is interested in computer science, law and public health and will visit colleges in either Washington, D.C., Chicago or Houston. Ariana would like to study marine biology and plans to visit a couple of schools in Florida.
