   No. 5 - January 30, 2015

Dear URV member and colleague,

At the beginning of the year, students wishing to go abroad have already submitted their applications for one of the most transformative experiences of their university years. The call to become an exchange student finished on 31 December. This call has been special in many ways. Firstly, because URV has started to use its new mobility management software (Move on). We are very excited about this, because it is going to lead not only to a much better service to the users, but also to a better management of the information and the systems themselves. Secondly, it is special because for the first time the information sessions were held using the URV’s teleconferencing infrastructure. We held one information session at Campus Catalunya to which all the other campuses were connected. The recordings were also made available for people to watch at:  http://videoconferencia.urv.es/p99311209/.

The results of the call was a total of 455 applications for a mobility period abroad and 50 for a period of internship.

Another novelty worth mentioning is the fact that the call for internships abroad did not close in December, but will remain open until the 31 March 2016 (internship valid for the academic year 2015-16). This will allow students to find their internship placement when they request a grant, thus ensuring more flexibility and better chances for students to benefit from this opportunity.

Another piece of news that I would like to highlight is that a new service is now being provided to the whole community, which I believe is of great added value. Any member of the URV community can get their URV- ISIC or ITIC (International Student Identity Card or International Teacher Identity Card) from the International Center at a discounted price of 7€. This card is the only internationally recognized student card, endorsed by UNESCO, which gives access to considerable discounts and interesting coverage, such as travel insurance at very beneficial rates, or discounts of up to 80% in stores and services such as Apple or Microsoft. Apply for your ISIC or ITIC at: www.urv.cat/mobility/isic.html

And in this edition of the newsletter, I cannot finish without wishing you all a very happy, successful and exciting 2015!

Yours
