No. 3 - October 31, 2014 mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Dear URV member and colleague,

As you can see this newsletter is already launched from our new email address:, where you can send your articles and information on international issues concerning URV. I am very happy to see that one of the effects of this newsletter is that we all find out more and more initiatives in the international field that are done at all levels of the university and that before were unknown to the whole community. It is already an aim in itself and I am personally very proud of this.

Today I wanted to tell you about the Strategic Internationalization Plan of URV (PEI in its acronym in Catalan). As you probably know, the first PEI was approved in May 2009 for a duration of 4 years. This Plan constituted a necessary piece of the strategic building blocks of the university (Strategic Research Plan 2001, Strategic Teaching Plan 2003 and Strategic Third Mission Plan 2009).
Its first edition gave a sure direction to the process of internationalization of URV and it not only became a good internal working compass, but also a good example that has made URV become an example of best practice not only nationally but also internationally, with several appearances at international conferences and for a, which give URV the international visibility needed to have access to better and more opportunities internationally.

Given the positive balance of this first SIP, the University decided to continue in this same line with its second SIP 2014-2019, which is now being implemented. This time, and regardless of the more challenging context that we are in compared to 2009, we are trying to take this SIP one step further and not leave it only at the institutional level, but have the URV Centers and Faculties own it and implement it in their own context, so that the whole university advances together hand in hand with might towards a truly international URV.

Let us work together towards this goal! Only united we can make the URV, the international University that we all deserve.

I wish you a nice Castanyada or a scary Halloween!

My best regards,

Mar Gutiérrez-Colon Plana

Vice-Rector for Internationalisation
