October Concerts Update
Join us on October 21 and 23 as we showcase world premieres from four of our artists. The concerts will be held in the Unitarian Universalist Church in Blacksburg (Oct. 21) and at the North Cross School (Oct. 23) in Roanoke, Virginia. Both events will begin at 7:30pm. Admission is free and open to the public. Live streaming of the concerts may even be available via our website.
Our "In the Moment!" concerts will feature music by composers from Mexico, Panama, Venezuela, Peru, Ecuador, Chile and the United States. Most of these works were recently composed and all are intended for a very contemporary ensemble that consists of winds, strings, piano and percussion. Several pieces also include a part for male voice; two of these will be sung by tenor Robert Chafin, two others will be sung by baritone Theodore Sipes. Cayambis co-owner John Walker will conduct the Sinfonietta.
The Sinfonietta itself is made up of some of this area's finest musicians, amongst whom are Elizabeth Lantz Crone, flute; Phillip Paglilonga, clarinet; Robert Deis, saxophone; Nicole Paglialonga, violin; Lisa Liske-Doorandish, cello; Yi-Wen Evans, string bass; Annie Stevens, percussion; and Cayambis Artist Dolly Hsu, piano.

Our Composers in the News
On August 24 in Guadalajara, Mexico, Demian Galindo's group, Colectivo Proyecto Caos, presented Retorno a lo inmanente, a multimedia spectacular based on the poetry of Diana Reza and Oscar López Huidor. Founded in 2008 by Galindo, the Collective Project Chaos has presented concert events in Cuba and Ecuador, as well as in many of Mexico's most important venues.
Earlier this month Federico Núñez won the TRINAC-TRIME 2014 prize in Argentina for his work, Alba inmestiza, which was composed for an acoustic ensemble y electronic resources.
Nicolás Kliwadenko wrote to inform us that a new version of his piece, Tercera Práctica, will be premiered on November 4 in the MUSICAHORA Festival in La Serena, Chile. He says that this new version, for electric guitar, amplified objects and electronics in real time, will be performed by the group, Taller Ciclo.
In October, the Military Band of Caracas, Venezuela, will undertake a tour that will take them throughout that country, during which they will be giving premier performances of works by Luis Ernesto Gómez, Andrés Levell and Luis Pérez Valero.

Agreement Signed in Support of Music Sorority
We are pleased to announce our partnership with Tau Beta Sigma, the national honorary band sorority dedicated to serving college band programs. This agreement is intended to benefit the music sorority on two levels, first, individual sorority members will have access to the company’s many publications at a substantial discount, and second, at the end of the academic school year we will make a donation to the local Tau Beta Sigma chapter whose members have purchased the most music. In signing the agreement, John Walker, co owner of Cayambis Music Press, said, “I am happy to be able to establish such a key relationship with young musicians who are already making valuable contributions to the profession.”
