CMP Hits the Road

We’re leaving on December 17 for South America, where we’ll be meeting with composers. Although our website will remain fully functional, any orders received during this period will not be processed until January 7, 2015.

New Titles!

Here are just a few of the new titles we added to our catalog within the past month:
Edson Beltrami, Suite for wind quintet; Carlos Ca- macho, Kugüe kira ni ña for mixed septet with piano; Alvaro Ponce de León, Universal for percussion octet; Samuel Robles, Canto for solo violin and string orchestra; and Adriana Verdié, OCTET for brass octet.

Featured Composer

Our featured composer for the month of December is Marcelo Beltrán! Born in Quito, Marcelo studied music at the National Conservatory of Music in Quito; later, he taught guitar and was the head of that institution’s department of theory, harmony and music analysis. Currently he teaches these subjects at the George Gershwin Conservatory in Quito. In addition, he works as a composer for the Sucre National Theater Foundation.
Marcelo has had a large number of his works performed, of which some of the most important are: the film score to the 2009 film, La Revolución de Alfaro, and the Cantata de Ramos, which was commissioned in 2011 as part of an international sacred music festival.

Our Composers in the News

Luis Pérez Valero will be presenting a talk about his music at the Colegio Internacional Americano in Caracas, Venezuela. In addition, on December 7, the Military Band of Caracas, under the direction of José Manuel Guerrero, will be performing works by Pérez Valero, as well as compositions by Luis Ernesto Gómez and Andrés Levell in a concert celebrating the sesquicentennial of this musical ensemble. The concert will be held at the Bolivar Theater at 6pm.
Demian Galindo’s group, Ensamble Proyecto Caos, will be performing on December 9 in Santiago, Chile, as part of the Prisms Festival sponsored by Germina.CCiones, which is an independent organization that develops cultural projects throughout Latin America.

Alvaro Ponce de León’s group, Varo’s Quartet, was recently featured on RPP television in Lima, Peru.
Finally, sometimes news gets to us a little late, but we thought it important to mention that Samuel Robles’s book, Una ventana al este, was presented in Panama City on October 20, 2014. The book is a collection of six short stories that was published by Duende Gramático.
