Do Good, Feel Good,
Get the Cash in Hand
According to Bloomerang, nonprofit donor retention rates are below 50 percent. Click here to learn more about these donor-centric strategies from Guidestar, and find out how you can help your donors feel the love. (Hint: It involves picking up the phone. Like, to talk to people. Not text. We know, so quaint).
How to Ask
How effective are your asks? When you write a fundraising letter, are you thinking about what you need or thinking about what a potential donor would like to hear? As a food policy consultant Mark Winne gets added to a lot of mailing lists, and therefore receives a lot of donor requests. Here, he outlines the fundraising letter he would like to receive. We've never seen an donor ask like this before! It might be just what you need to boost your donations.

Kurlander has helped the organization grow from grassroots to boasting offices in six cities, and has raised more than $110 million. How is the project putting the involvement philanthropy idea into practice, and what can you learn from them

Here's the TL;DR key to all the articles we've read: Focus on the donor. Make them* feel appreciated. Let them know how their support is helping, not just why it's needed. People who feel cared about are people who will care more.
