Notice of Referrals (R. Dawson; G. Harrison) to be heard by the Disciplinary Panel on Thursday 11 August

10/08/2022 @ 12:00:00

9.30 am - Ray Dawson

The independent Disciplinary Panel of the British Horseracing Authority will convene on Thursday 11 August 2022 to hear the referral of Ray Dawson by the Stewards at Windsor on 1 August 2022 following the Fitzdares Salutes England’s Lionesses Handicap Stakes (Class 5).

An enquiry was held to consider interference approaching the final furlong involving GHERKIN, placed third, ridden by Rob Hornby, SYMBOL OF HOPE, placed fourth, ridden by Ray Dawson and FOR PEAT’S SAKE, unplaced, ridden by Silvestre De Sousa. Dawson was found in breach of careless riding as after GHERKIN had drifted slightly right, he shifted SYMBOL OF HOPE right for a run when insufficiently clear of FOR PEAT’S SAKE, resulting in De Sousa to take a check. As the Stewards considered the offence warranted a suspension and taking into account that Dawson had already been suspended for 20 days or more within the previous 6 months, the Stewards referred Dawson to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority.

11.30am - Gary Harrison

The independent Disciplinary Panel of the British Horseracing Authority will convene on Thursday 11 August 2022 to consider whether licensed trainer and Responsible Person Gary Harrison is in breach of Rule (K)2.2 (Presence of a Prohibited Substance in a Horse’s Sample) of the Rules of Racing due to the presence of Prohibited Substances Cobalt in a post-race sample taken from MAJOR PUSEY following the horse’s run in The Indigo Unified Comms Selling Handicap Stakes (Class 6) at Hamilton on 24 June 2021.

Whether, as its post-race sample tested positive for Prohibited Substances, MAJOR PUSEY should be disqualified from the relevant race under Rule (L)47.4 (Horse Disqualifications).
