Poetry and Nature

Friends of the Georgia Museum of Natural History and Athens Word of Mouth will co-sponsor a unique event celebrating poetry and nature at the Special Collections Library on the UGA campus.

Reading at the free event are four-time Georgia Author of the Year Philip Lee Williams (Elegies for the Water, 2009, and The Flower Seeker, 2010), Clela Reed (Dancing on the Rim, 2009, and The Hero of the Revolution Serves Us Tea, 2013), Robert Ambrose, Jr. (Journey to Embarkation, 2016) and retired Odum School of Ecology Professor John Pickering, with four Discover Life poetry prizes totaling $1000 awarded to Clarke County high school student poets to be selected in early September.

D.A. Crossley, research professor emeritus UGA Odum School of Ecology and President of the Friends of the Georgia Museum of Natural History, will present the authors. A question-and-answer session and reception will follow the readings.
