Bowel cancer is the second most common type of newly diagnosed cancer in Australia affecting both men and women almost equally and is Australia’s second biggest cancer killer after lung cancer. The positive message is saving lives through early detection – as bowel cancer is one of the most curable types of cancer if found early.

BUSINESS INSIGHTS We all lead such busy lives and wear many hats in our daily activities - but there is a good chance that some of the things you are actually doing are time wasters.

Setting a schedule and keeping a time sheet will ensure you identify what tasks you are completing. If you do get caught in a time wasting endeavor by using a pomodoro timer you will never lose hours at a time - setting your timer to the recommended 25 minutes will make sure you are back on track fast.

By being honest and accountable with your time you will gain a true indication of whether you are being productive or if you are procrastinating.

ENTREPRENEUR REVIEW - Being involved in the Financial Services Industry can be intimidating for some, however Cathy Lowder as an expert in her field is outclassing the big guys. This month she shares some things about herself and her business.

How did the business originate? Fryer Financial Services is a family business. I (Cathy) took over the business from my father Jim Fryer, who started the business 22 years ago.

What do you love about your business? I love that every client has a different story. My job is to find out what is important to my clients and help them work towards achieving their goals.

Is there anything you dislike? My only dislike is that sometimes there is so much to do and just not enough time. It can be a challenge to prioritise time to make sure everything gets done.

What advice would you give to someone thinking of starting their own business? Do your homework before committing to anything.
You must be prepared to commit 100% or there is no chance of success.

What is your tip for a work/life balance? Be sure to schedule time for yourself, even if it means blocking out a couple of hours to just sit and chat to a friend. If you don’t schedule it in, it will likely not happen.

APP REVIEWWhen you need to collect information, learn people’s preferences or gather feedback, there’s nothing better than using an online form. There area number of online providers offering free and paid services for online forms including Google Forms, Wufoo and Typeform. They may also provide  analytics on your forms.

Many will allow you to use your own branding with logos and colours to ensure that your brand presence remains consistent.

Data and reporting can be boring but the use of these online tools make it a bit more exciting for everyone.

SMALL BIZ TIP - Keywords and phrases in your web content make it possible for people to find your site via search engines. A website that is well optimized for search engines "speaks the same language" as its potential visitor base so well researched keywords help connect searchers to your site.

With the tools and resources available online, it is important to get started on knowing and understanding the ways to use targeted keywords to get qualified leads to your website’s pages. These keywords will also apply to your social media pages.
