Men are encouraged to start the month clean shaven and have the month to grow and groom their moustache. Through the support of family, friends and collegues and fundraising efforts each and every moustache raises awareness and essential funds.

When you are running a business its important to have support - both professionally and personally.
In most cases your family and friends will be the first ones on your boat. Use them to provide the motivation that you will need to get started and to continue on in your journey.

Networking is and will always be a great support. Remember that these people have all been at the same place you are now. Join a few groups to get a feel, including your local Chamber of Commerce. Many of these networking groups are easily accessed before you start your business and participants will be more than willing to offer advice.

There are a number of State and Federal Government websites that can provide contact details of advisers and small business centres that will offer advice and many provide training courses to speed your learning.

While many business owners feel that they can do it alone the partnering with a business coach will assist you in many areas of your business, providing support and direction.

Another successful approach is to find a mentor. This could be someone within your industry who has been successful in their own business or it could be someone that you look up to. Don’t be afraid to ask them to mentor you as it could be the one thing that makes the difference between success and failure.

APP REVIEW -  More and more businesses are finding that providing content directly is the best way to get and keep customers. The most efficient way is through regular newsletters.

There a many online providers however I have found that Mailchimp is easy to use, collects email addresses and meets legislation requirements for direct mailing. Additionally it is free for less than 2000 subscribers.

MailChimp is accessible online and also has apps available on Google Play and the Apps Store.

SMALL BIZ TIP - Your customers need to know that you are running a business and not just a sometimes hobby. Everything about you and the way you do business needs to let people know that you are  professional. That includes getting professional business cards, phone number and a business email address.
The telltale sign will always be how and when you respond to customer questions - remember you should always treat people in a professional and courteous manner.
