Hope you enjoy this issue of basically business

Sharon
Well its February already and Christmas and New Year have flown past. For many the kids are back at school and business owners are back to doing what they do. I hope that you had a chance to slow down, smell the roses and regroup for a productive and successful 2015.

Did you make some resolutions this year? Resolutions are great but without planning and taking definite action all they become are dreams. Don't get me wrong dreams are great, but wouldn't you rather be living it!

When you engage in SMART goal setting you are identifying resources, time, funds and effort to attain these dreams. Develop your action plans and take steps daily to ensure you stay on track. Then each month spend some time to review what you have achieved, pat yourself on the back and reset for the next month.

Like most things in life there are different strategies to use in goal setting, do your research and find out what works best for you. Finally, keep your goals in a prominent place on paper, on your computer or consider creating a vision board to ensure they stay front of mind. Good Luck!
ENTREPRENEUR REVIEW - Local business coach Marie Alessi shares some information on what got her into her own business as well as some of her favourite things -

Business name - Muse Coaching

Website www.muse-coaching.com

How did the business originate? I worked in advertising for 10+ years and knew I wouldn't go back once I started a family. So after 4 years of being a stay-at-home mum, I applied for a job with a company who runs Personal Development courses and seminars. They invited me along to one of their workshops to see if I liked what they did. I didn't want the job any more, I wanted to be able to do this myself!
During the training I also released my "limiting belief" that I'd never start my own business. Within a month - instead of taking their offer to work for them as a Coach - I started my own business...
Now I'm helping others to break through their limiting beliefs, thoughts, emotions and becoming successful in whatever area in their life :)

How long have you been in this business? This is my 4th year.

What do you love about your business? Guiding and watching other people change their patterns and create and achieve things in life they never thought to be possible. I love constantly being surrounded by great people and following their paths to success and happiness :)

Is there anything you dislike? People using their energy to complain about things that they could actually quite easily change with that same energy.

Favourite food - Red curry with Tofu

Favourite colour - Orange and Aqua.

Favourite drink - Mojito :)

Favourite movie - The Holiday, Benny & Joon, Amelie

Favourite time of the day - Dinner time - the family is re-united & we can chat about our day :)

Favourite item in your office - 9am - when I'm slurping a cuppa and getting ready for my first session!

Favourite app on your phone/tablet/computer - Calendar - I'd be lost without it :D

What book are you reading right now? I've got a whole pile of books waiting - my second son is starting school this year - can't wait to get into it!

Which 3 people (dead or alive) would you invite to a dinner party? Why?
Ellen DeGeneres - she's friggen hilarious, I love her humor!
John Demartini - I'm just amazed by his story from beach-bum to Millionaire - he's walking his talk!
Richard Brandson - I love his can-do-attitude and how he made his way to the top seem so effortless.

Name 3 things on your bucket list
Travel to South America
Ride in a Hot Air Balloon
Visit the Seychelles

What do you like to do for yourself? Go to the beach, read in my hammock, play loud music and dance around the living room, paint my nails :D

Who do you seek advice from? My husband, the "gathering of awesomeness", close friends, my mentors - depends on the situation :)

What advice would you give to someone thinking of starting their own business? Come to my "Think Business Class"! It offers you everything you need for a great start :)
Find a mentor - seriously - and network! The Fishbowl is a great way to connect your business.

What is your tip for a work/life balance? Use your calendar - even for the "me-time" - it's like making a commitment once you schedule something in. No matter if work or socialising - so why not time for yourself?

Apple / Android - Apple.

Beach / Bush - Beach!!!!!!!!!

MY FAVOURITE APPS - Google Keep lets you quickly take and save notes, photos, screenshots, voice memos and checklists to Google Drive and then access them again on any web connected device you use. Keep also connects to Google Drive.

Its ideal for - quick note-taking on the go
                  - anyone who appreciates simple, fast note-taking tools or apps, or
                  - saving notes on the desktop that you know you will need on your Android phone like shopping lists addresses, phone numbers, checklists and to-do lists.

It is colourful and easy to use and the colours are actually organization tools that make it easy to tell your personal notes apart from your work-related ones, or your family-related ones, and so on. The searchable function allows you to easily find your notes using just a keyword.

Google Keep is easy to learn and easy to use whether you prefer taking notes on the desktop or on your Android phone or tablet.

Keep could be the productivity and organizational tool for you.Google Keep is available on Google Play.
SMALL BIZ TIP - Cash flow affects all businesses but small biz feels the pressure the most. It still surprises me how often businesses don't invoice. You should be sending invoices out at the completion of services or at least once a week. Make sure you have minimal payment terms. Most of your suppliers will be expecting payment up front so seven days should be sufficient for your clients. Finally, don't be afraid to ask for payment prior to release of goods.
