BUSINESS INSIGHTS Your target market is what keeps you in business so its important that you are attracting the right customer/client.

These are the people who are most likely to purchase from you. A strategic approach in defining your ideal consumer not only saves you time, money and effort, it also helps you understand your potential customer better and personalise your marketing material to generate more sales.

Resist the temptation to be too general in the hopes of getting a larger slice of the market.

Getting your target market right will not only streamline your business it will also guide the right brand representation and build a better relationship with your consumers.

ENTREPRENEUR REVIEW - This month Kim Lee shares some things about herself and her business.

Business name - The Giggle Booth

Website www.gigglebooth.com.au

How did the business originate?  My husband and I got married over in the Cook Islands and had a booth at our beachside wedding. We came home and thought it was so much fun and entertaining for our guests that it would be a fun business to have.  We also had attended friends weddings and engagements and discovered that customer service and quality were lacking.

How long have you been in this business? 3 years

What do you love about your business?   We meet a lot of lovely people and our job is never boring or dull. We get satisfaction on providing a great service to our clients.

Is there anything you dislike? The late finishes

Favourite food: Chicken and asparagus!! Boring I know!

Favourite colour:  White

Favourite drink: Water- I don’t go anywhere without my water bottle!

Favourite movie: All-time favorite would be Pretty Woman.

Favourite time of the day: In the morning, straight after a boot camp session!

Favourite item in your officeMy photos of my family

Favourite app on your phone/tablet/computer: Words with friends.

What book are you reading right now? Cry myself to sleep, by Joe Peters

Which 3 people (dead or alive) would you invite to a dinner party? Why?  Richard Gere, George Clooney and Channing Tatum, I think the why question is pretty obvious!

Name 3 things on your bucket list:  Go to Vegas, To try a pole dancing class, To be able to get back into a bikini and feel comfortable!!

What do you like to do for yourself? I love to exercise, boot camps especially.

Who do you seek advice from? My husband - does not mean I listen though!!

What advice would you give to someone thinking of starting their own business? To conduct a lot of research by checking out your competitors, I think competition is very good. Know your products, ask lots of questions, go to networking groups and give it a go if you are passionate about it!

What is your tip for a work/life balance? Still got to figure that one out! I think locking the officer door in the evenings might work!

For a fun time at your next event as well as a take home reminder for all of your guests you wont regret using the Giggle Booth.

APP REVIEW -  Our websites are key to our business in informing potential clients and marking our place in the digital world.

Unfortunately, we only have a matter of seconds to get and keep the interests of potential customers.

Hubspot Website Grader is a free online tool that grades your site against key metrics like performance, mobile readiness, SEO, and security.

It will also provide ideas and areas of improvement. Give it a try.
SMALL BIZ TIP - An asset register is a detailed document that contains the assets that a business owns. These assets may include buildings & improvements, plant and equipment such as office equipment, manufacturing equipment, motor vehicles, computer software and hardware, intellectual property, patents, trademarks, copyrights etc.

When recording information on each asset ensure you note model/serial numbers, date of purchase, cost including installation costs, actual value and an estimated replacement date.

An accurate asset register will meet taxation and statutory guidelines and can be used for insurance claims, depreciation costs as well as a review for maintenance and replacement.
