BUSINESS INSIGHTS Branding is more than just a logo – when people hear your name they conjure up a set of impressions that influence how they think and buy. A well-managed brand will create a strong emotional connection within the marketplace and a strong emotional connection attracts and fosters loyal customer behaviour.

And in the words of Darryl Kerrigan - it’s the vibe.

But when done right your brand is your promise to your customers.

ENTREPRENEUR REVIEW - This month Chris Jeffreys shares some things about herself and her business.

Business name - Projectivity Service & Training

Website Projectivity

How did the business originate?  Created a business for myself after redundancy.

How long have you been in this business? Almost 3 years

What do you love about your business?  Being able to develop my own projects and to work in areas in that excite me and ignite my passion.

Is there anything you dislike? admin and finance (lol) I know it is necessary but I am not that disciplined unless I work for someone else who makes me do it.

Favourite food: Mainly savoury flavours, I'm not much of a sweet tooth.

Favourite colour:  Blue

Favourite drink: Wine, dont care what colour.

Favourite movie: Too many cant pick.

Favourite time of the day: Wine o'clock

Favourite item in your office: My radio. Love listening to music when I work.

Favourite app on your phone/tablet/computer: Outlook. Keeps me organised.

What book are you reading right now? Zig Ziglar

Which 3 people (dead or alive) would you invite to a dinner party? Why?    Robyn Williams - Love his work. Magda Zubanski - Love her honesty. Andrew Morello - An amazing young man

Name 3 things on your bucket list: Drive my way around Australia.  Write at least 3 books and develop related workshops - Have written one.

What do you like to do for yourself? Relax, take me time. Drink wine

Who do you seek advice from? People I respect. Depends on the issue. Sometimes I seek advice from people I love cause I need a hug.

What advice would you give to someone thinking of starting their own business? Think about what it is you want to achieve in your new business. Then reverse engineer how you are going to achieve  that vision.  Seek advice or mentoring from people you respect. Know your competition and create your point of difference. Know your target market.  I knew and did none of this when I started my business.   Learnt the hard way and wasted a lot of time and money.

What is your tip for a work/life balance? Discipline. Need to create boundaries around the amount of hours you are prepared to work on your business, time with your family and time with yourself.  If you do not look after yourself, you are no good to your business or your family. You also risk your personal health and well being.

Beach / Bush: Bit of both. Mostly beach.

Chris is transitioning to a new role with the Southern Region Business Enterprise Centre - so if you are considering starting a business or looking to expand or restructure a visit with a Business Advisor is a great start.

APP REVIEW - A new app that I have recently found is a Chrome Extension that will see your productivity skyrocket.
Its called Facebook News Feed Eradicator.

If you find yourself spending too much time on Facebook and getting lost within the news feed this little tool will make a big difference by removing your news feed (and live ticker) and replaces it instead with an inspirational quote.

And if you really need to access the FB feed just open a new incognito tab.

News Feed Eradicator is available on Google Chrome Webstore.
SMALL BIZ TIP - Newsletters are a great way to keep in touch with existing clients as well as a great way for potential customers to get to know you a little better before making that first purchase.

Starting and maintaining these databases ensures that you have control over the content that you provide - not the social media platform - however the same rules apply
  • dont sell sell sell
  • share valuable relative content
There are a few email newsletter platforms available- both free and paid options. Using these providers ensure that you are not breaking Anti-Spam laws with your country.
