The CCG continues to face considerable financial challenges and because of the scale of this challenge it is now necessary to bring in a dedicated turnaround Accountable Officer for NHS Shropshire Clinical Commissioning Group.
David Evans will remain the Accountable Officer for Telford and Wrekin Clinical Commissioning Group, as well as Senior Responsible Officer for the NHS Future Fit programme.
NHS Shropshire CCG is under directions from NHS England and they have determined that the CCG needs to put in place interim arrangements to help us fulfil our statutory requirements.
As of next week, Dr Simon Freeman will be joining the CCG as our Interim Accountable Officer. Simon joins us from Arden and Gem CSU where he has been the organisation’s Chief Operating Officer. Simon has worked previously as Accountable Officer and Managing Director of NHS Leicester City CCG.
Dr Julian Povey, Chair of Shropshire CCG said:
“I would like to thank David for all his hard work during his time as interim accountable officer. Despite the pressures and challenges we continue to face David’s leadership and commitment has left a very positive mark on Shropshire CCG.
“David’s appointment was always on an interim basis and it is important that we have a dedicated AO who can help Shropshire tackle our financial deficit. Simon has a wealth of experience within both the NHS and private sector and we look forward to working alongside him.”
Shropshire’s Interim Management arrangements will remain in place for the foreseeable future.
