St Thomas Railway City Rotary Club Minutes - April 24th 2019
Minutes of Meeting: April 24th 2019
Held At: Roadhouse Bar and Grill
Bell Ring 5:30pm by President Ian Chantler
Eleanor lead us in the 4 way test
 
PDG and District Grant Chair Doug Bernard paid us a visit and also made a presentation and a cheque to via Al on behave of the club for the Dictionary project.  
It originally started with with 6 clubs and has grown to over 45000 dictionaries over the last 9 years
This year it is estimated that 54800 dictionaries will be given out.


Roger presented Natalie with a cheque for $1486.83 for the purchase of a presentation and education  laptop for Victim services.
 
Scott our outbound exchange student, showed off his new red jacket with some if his pins
Lauren announced that she is going to district 1750, France
 

Serge Lavoie -President  of the  St Thomas Elevated Park came to speak about the progress of the elevated park.  

An Enhanced Vision for the St Thomas Elevated Park
Made possible by the Doug Tarry “End to End” Challenge
A project by the community for the community.  Not a single cent from the city/government funding
350000 raised from the community

Construction began in 2017 and planting started with local volunteers
St Thomas Horticultural Society takes care of the plants and does such a beautiful job of keeping the grounds looking so nice.  
 
6 major pieces of public art have been donated by the artists or community groups and more pieces will be added as the project moves along.  

Serge had mention all of the upcoming projects that they have planned and where they are looking for donations.
