St Thomas Railway City Rotary Club Minutes - March 31, 2021

Guest Speaker - Leticia, Nameless Group
Bill introduced Letica from the Nameless Group. Leticia provided place-based training on the identification, handling and disposal of sharps. This training is in preparation for the club's participation in Environment Day on April 24. Members of the St. Thomas Rotary Club and Interact Club also participated in the training and will be at Barrie Park on Environment Day. All participants should bring their own gloves and grabbers (Dollar Store).
Barb Warnock mentioned that her daughter could present to our clubs information about safe injection sites.
Diane thanked Leticia for the training. The club will be making a donation to the Nameless Group.
Financial - Helen
It was recommended that the District Grant be increased from $1,000 to $2,000. The matter was referred to the Board.
Fundraising - Paul
Sandy and Bob are going to discuss the viability of working the Horton Street market in the summer.
International - Mark F
Local Community Service - Sandy
A committee was struck to co-ordinate a donation of $50,000 in conjunction with a possible similar donation from the St. Thomas Rotary Club the St. Thomas Elgin Hospice. Committee members are: Ann, Roland, Diane and Scott
There was discussion about a possible joint meeting between the two clubs.
Sandy indicated that the IOTC will need approximately $100,000 in furniture and equipment for its move in September.
Rotary Youth Exchange - Al G
Administration - Bill C
Bill indicated that those who wanted to participate in next week's Chamber of Commerce sponsored Meet the Mayors session. A pre-registration form had been distributed.
Bill reminded members that Rotary Leadership Training (RLI) can be taken virtually from anywhere in the world.
April 24, 21 - Environmental Day
Members had Happy Bucks.

Approved Motion Mover Bill Seconder Paul
That the District Grant for the St. Thomas Foodbank be increased from $1,000 to $2,000.
Bill indicated that both he and Diane have completed the Foundation training for District Grants.
The District Grant Committee is comprised of Scott, Paul, Al, Sandy and Wade and will meet April 5 at 7:00 p.m.
Natalie is taking a leave from the Secretary's position, and Al will assume the role temporarily during Natalie's absence.
