Presentation    Danielle Wilcox   One Hug at a Time- Cuddle Program
Donna introduced Danielle.
Danielle introduced her family, three daughters.  As a family, they enjoy travelling and have been to Ecuador, France and within Canada.   With her love of children, Danielle started working on creating this program.  Program message:   Every day there are babies born that just need a little love and comfort…love is free and comfort heals!    The program hopes to start here in about six months after incorporation as a non-profit organization. The program is not common in Canada outside of major urban areas.   Given some of the choices made by some parents re alcohol and drugs, the program through caring and physical contact helps alcohol and drug affected babies demonstrate improved levels of mental and physical functioning.   Other babies such as those born with developmental disabilities or other disorders would benefit from the program.  Danielle has a volunteer program with 41 volunteers and can operate in the hospital, private homes and in the community.  The research indicates that One Hug at a Time helps with mental health later in life and enables people to demonstrate higher levels of success.  Check Danielle’s webpage, One Hug at a Time- Cuddle Program!
Sandy thanked Danielle for her presentation.  Sandy and others offered to help Danielle with funding and technical assistance.
