St Thomas Railway City Rotary Club Minutes - June 23, 2021

Scott thanked everyone for their participation in the tree planting.  

Financial Report - Helen
Helen forwarded the financial reports for information.

Social Activity


Committee Updates
Hospice- Diane
Diane reviewed her report as circulated.  St. Thomas Elgin Hospice Committee is preparing a pledge agreement that will include a specific payment date annually for the pledged amount.  There will be further discussion about this date by the committee on July 8.  

Fundraising - Paul 
Paul indicated that he expected that the Fish Fry, Dinner of the Month along with new initiatives such as the online auction would take place next year. 

Paul listed the groups budgeted as recipients for funding:
Newcomers YWCA, Hospice, IOTC, Tree Planting, Caring Cupboard, Christmas Care and Dictionaries.  There was also suggestions that there should be funding for Rotary Youth Exchange and international projects.

Bob and Sandy are working on the online auction.

Local Community Service - Sandy
Wildflowers- Bill
Bill indicated that the shifts were full and although traffic has lessened the donations are strong with $1377. raised to date. .

Horton Street Market- Sandy
Sandy indicated that the Horton Street Market is going well and $1000.72 has been raised thus far.  Sandy also said that the new name for the Inn is St, Thomas Elgin Inn.  

Approved Motion  Mover Scott Seconder Wade
On July 31, the donations from the Horton Street Market will go to the Food Providers  Network.  

Horton Street Market will also solicit donations for the dictionaries, hospice, Christmas Care and Rotary Youth Exchange.  
Rotary Youth Exchange - Al G
Al reviewed the highlights of his report that indicated that the Rotary Youth Exchange will be operating in 2022-23, and Athina, our Virtual Rotary Youth Exchange student, has submitted on behalf of her local clubs a request for our club to participate in a Rotary Global Grant.  Athina's request has been referred to Mark and the Board.

Reminder about Happy Bucks card and can be purchased from Helen through etransfer.
