It has been an exciting season for the Toronto Concert Band! Our first performance, Musical Expeditions, was held at the Glenn Gould Studio downtown and was a delight. Our second concert, Hallelujah!, was held in a beautiful church in Etobicoke and featured works from Handel, Copland, Grainger and more.
This season we have been featuring a work from Robert W. Smith: The Divine Comedy. This symphonic work is in four movements - Inferno, Purgatorio, The Ascension, and Paradiso. Musical Expeditions featured Inferno and Hallelujah! featured Purgatorio. These performances were by far the most talked about pieces of these concerts, and we are delighted to announce that we are wrapping up this suite with performances of the last two movements in just two weeks!
From Sea To Sea, on June 17th, will feature music from Canadian composers and feature Canadian themes, of course in celebration of our nation's 150th birthday, which will be exactly two weeks after our concert. We will feature music from Canadians Howard Cable, Toronto's own Matthew Morris, and Dolores Claman, along with musical portraits from across the country, from the maritimes, to our beautiful west coast. We are also performing selections from both The Lion King and a fabulous arrangement of Led Zeppelin music.
Once again, the TCB returns to the Glenn Gould Studio for this performance. The perfect summer evening awaits you in the heart of the entertainment district, and we hope that you'll join us. Saturday June 17th at 7:30pm.
