Unite for our Rights! Learning Disability Alliance website launched!


The Learning Disability Alliance (LDA) England has launched its brand new website and is calling on individuals, groups and organisations to join together to advance the rights of people with learning disabilities.

The alliance's vision is
 for a better future. This vision will be created by people with learning disabilities, families and their allies. People with learning disabilities will have a veto over its content.

The Association for Real Change is one of the founding members of the alliance and Jacqueline Bell, ARC's CEO, will sit on the LDA Advisory Group. Check out the website and read more about LDA England here...

 
Care Quality Commission publish provider handbooks setting out how they will regulate community and residential services in adult social care

These handbooks are for providers and managers of adult social care services. It's where you'll find guidance on the new approach to regulating services, including information about registration and fees. For more information and to download the handbooks see here.

Specialist teams, including trained members of the public (called Experts by Experience) will conduct unannounced inspections looking at what matters most to residents and their families, are they; safe, caring, effective, responsive to their needs, and well-led?

You can also view a short video here, presented by three Chief Inspectors, which helps to explain the changes.

New report sets out long term vision for better mental health
The Department of Health has published a new report setting out the government’s plans to improve access to mental health care services.

The report introduces the intention to roll out national waiting time standards for the first time by April 2015. It also takes a forward look, establishing its vision for better access to mental health services over the next five years, placing mental and physical health services on equal footings. Download policy documents here...
