They offer fun, outdoor animal-based activities to encourage clients to be physically and mentally active. Their goals are to increase sociability, resilience and work towards independence.

Government ditches controversial role for care home managers under Liberty Protection Safeguards
The Government's decision removes the role for care home managers to arrange assessments and gather information that would inform decisions to deprive people of liberty in care homes.

DHSC opens consultation on stopping movement of staff between care settings
The Government has opened a consultation on regulations that would mean residential and nursing care home providers in England must restrict the movement of staff providing personal care or nursing care in their services. The consultation closes at 12pm, 23rd November.

Family Voices: Report on family carers during the pandemic
Learning Disability England in partnership with Together Matters has written a paper pulling together comments, thoughts and ideas from family carers whose relative is living at home with them or in the local community. 'Family Voices' includes suggestions for moving on from the pandemic and makes a case for changes in the way social care is delivered.

CQC: COVID-19 Insight: Issue 5
CQC's latest report looks at learning about good practice in infection prevention and control and presents key findings from a survey on the experience of inpatients who were discharged from hospital from April to May 2020, including CQC data on the numbers of deaths of people with a learning disability.

Uber discounts on rides and food
Care workers can now benefit from 25% on Uber Medic trips (or 50% if paid by Mastercard), as well as a range of discounts on Uber Eats. This is an addition to the offer announced at the end of October. The discounts are available until 31 December 2020.

SARSAS join 16 days of activism for an end to violence against women and girls worldwide
Women and girls with learning disabilities and or autism can be up to four times more likely to experience sexual violence (Behind Closed Doors, 2001).
SARSAS (Somerset and Avon Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Service) are running live events as part of the UN's 16 days of activism against women and girls
