Meet the candidates running for mayor in Chicago and in the important suburban elections for Mayor, Trustee, Township, Park District, School Board and Fire District. All Democratic party candidates are invited to attend and share their experience with the community.
There are many important races in the Chicagoland suburbs including in Orland Park where Mohamed Jaber is slated to become the first Arab American candidate on the District 230 School Board, serving Palos, Orland Park and Tinley Park. And we have Suzan Atallah running for the Palos District 118 School Board.
We have elected officials of Arab Heritage who are joining us like Mary Basta, the Mayor of Bolingbrook, and State Rep. Abdelnasser Rashid who will address the forum.
We also have a growing list of candidates for Chicago Mayor. Confirmed speakers include Dr. Willie Wilson and Paul Vallas. We also have invitations out to all the candidates including Congressman Chuy Garcia. Ald. Raymond Lopez, a strong advocate for Arab American Rights who is running for re-election in the 15th Ward, will speak.
Learn about the City crackdown on Arab businesses and Gas Stations and what you can do about it, and how each candidate for Mayor feels about the discriminatory closures. We'll give you an update on that Chicago challenge.
Orland Township Democratic Committeewoman Beth McElroy Kirkwood, whose township includes one of the fastest growing Arab American communities in Chicagoland, in Orland Park, will speak to us about candidates running in several races including the Orland Fire Protection District, and for MVCC.
