Chinook Winds Region website launched!
The new Chinook Winds Region Website is now launched and you can access it at You'll find pertinent information on the website including staff contact information, relevant forms and the news section.  Still to come is the Online Chinook Winds Directory which we expect to have completed shortly. In the meantime, the old directory is still accessible HERE but will be taken down when the new directory is live.

Funding Mission, Ministry and Learning
in Chinook Winds Region 

As promised in the previous newsletter, the Chinook Winds Funding Proposal Form is now online. You can access it on the Chinook Winds website or HERE
The Program and Funding Proposal document is the official tool by which mission, ministry and learning funds can be requested. It replaces the former Mission Support Grant application. Your Community of Faith Strategy Working Group has been tasked with providing resources and review for these funding initiatives, under the direction of the Chinook Winds Region Executive and Executive Minister.
    Deadline for Funding Proposals: Friday, September 27, 2019
    During the 2019 season, The United Church of Canada provided more than $155,000 to support a range of mission, ministry, and learning initiatives in Chinook Winds Region.

Enrichment Day is organized by the Women of the United Church -- Chinook Winds and Northern Spirit. Guest Speaker is Kim Engbrecht, Founder, Narrow Road Home, a Women's Addiction Recovery Home in High River.

The session runs from 10 am to 3 pm with coffee and muffins available beginning at 9 am. Cost is $30 includes lunch.

An invitation to all retired ministers and spouses  
An Invitation to all retired ministers (and spouses) in Chinook Winds Region. Please join the Calgary Area Group of Retirees for lunch on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at 11:30 am.
    In addition to lunch, we will have a tour of the Chinook Regional Office, meet the staff and spend time with colleagues being re-acquainted and meeting new people.
Lunch is offered by donation. Why not come to the BIG city for a couple days, see the sites, shop, visit family?

The Prayer Room Gathering on October 1

 Chris Pullenayegem, Faith Formation Coordinator of The United Church of Canada, will join us and briefly share about current movements of prayer and support for faith formation in our United Church.

Intercultural Continuing Education and Learning Day Event. October 16 to 18, 2019 followed by the Korean Ministers/Lay Leaders Gathering on October 18-19.  Theme: Continuing the Awkward Conversation to Become an Intercultural and Sustainable Church with the Rev. Dr. Eric H.F. Law and the Rev. Dr. Andrew Sung Park. Providence Renewal Centre, Edmonton, Alberta. Downloadable Registration Form HERE.

The Women in Ministry gathering is for all those in paid accountable ministry (active, retained, retired, student) to gather for lunch and conversation. We meet the first Thursday of each month at 1 PM – location varies. September 5th we will meet at White Spot in Calgary (3322 23 St NE – near Barlow and 32ndAve NE). This is a time to connect with  colleagues, and perhaps hear about good books read over the summer and plans for fall. Please RSVP to Nancy Nourse if you plan to attend or 403 277 0322.

Marriage Preparation Courses: Calgary Pastoral and Spiritual Care received a Mission Support Grant to continue offering Marriage Preparation courses for 2019. The courses are hosted by Knox United Calgary. For more info please go to The next date available for 2019 is October 19. It is a full Saturday facilitated by professionals. These courses come highly recommended by previous attendees.

      • An image (JPG or PNG) with little or no text that
               represents your event, campaign, etc.
       • PDF poster or flyer, if applicable
