EARTH DAY IN OKC

Tomorrow, April 22, is Earth Day! There are several ways that you can observe and celebrate this day downtown. First, consider alternative forms of transportation on your way to work. Think about walking, riding your bike, or riding the OKC Streetcar. EMBARK fares are free tomorrow!

Stop by Plenty Mercantile in Automobile Alley to shop sustainably, learn about Water4, and enter for a chance to win a $100 gift card. Later in the evening take an Earth Day Nature Walk with the Family Workshop at the Myriad Gardens. Finish your day off with a cold beer at the Earth Day Pint Night with Elk Valley Brewing hosted at Social Captial.
VDUBS ON AUTOMOBILE ALLEY

VDubs on Automobile Alley is happening along 8th street on May 1 from 8am to 3pm. Browse classic, vintage, and new Volkswagens in the historic Automobile Alley district, which was originally home to over 50 car dealerships, a fact that is immortalized in the neon signs that still hang from its original buildings. Celebrate its history with the VW Club of Oklahoma

This event is family-friendly, free, and open to the public. Have a car you'd like to show? Register here to participate in the event.

FIELD STUDY CLOTHING
A NOTE FROM THE OWNER
 C A R L Y  S O W E C K E

My name is Carly Sowecke and I produce locally made, sustainable clothing for my line called Field Study Clothing. I focus on making collections from mostly-found or vintage fabric; providing an alternative to mass-produced fashion. The Field Study customer is someone who likes easy-to-wear clothing that is still effortlessly cool and stylish.
Opening a store downtown was a priority because there is so much energy and vibrancy down here; I wanted to be a part of that. Continuing in the spirit of this community, I thought it would be great to organize a monthly event, called the Make Ready Market. This is an outdoor market I started during the pandemic as a way for people to safely get out of the house and shop locally made items in one spot. It’s now blossomed into a monthly event featuring locally made items, art, vintage, food, and music. The next one is May 22, follow @fieldstudyclothing or @makereadymarket to get info on our spring and summer dates.

I can’t get enough of Twinkle Apothecary (also in the Make Ready buildings), Chirps and Cheers, and Oak City Vintage.

Kitchen 324 and Plant are two of my favorites. Browns Bakery and Elemental Coffee for morning eats.

The Oklahoma City Museum of Art is one of the most beautiful and calming places downtown. I have a membership, so it’s nice to pop in for 20 minutes or so and get a little calming energy from the galleries.
