From our team at Downtown Oklahoma City Partnership, we want to thank you for your continued support through 2020. It was a challenging year for us all, but we are thankful for a community that remains strong together. True to our mission, we worked hard this year to keep downtown safe, clean, and friendly.
In an effort to make downtown more friendly, we installed 60 bike racks, 5 bike repair stations, and 5 benches. Cleanliness is more important now than ever. Our team showed that it was a top priority by collecting around 15,000 gallons of trash from downtown’s streets and sidewalks.
We continued to bring the community safely together this year through events and placemaking projects. We hosted 11 total events, 2 of those were held virtually and 4 were spread over multiple days or weekends. We enhanced the public realm with 17 new placemaking projects and granted a total of $112,000 in public art projects.
This year, you got social. You watched over 18,000 minutes on our YouTube channel. We gained nearly 6,000 Instagram followers and received a total of 48,531 likes on our photos. Thanks for liking us. The feeling is mutual.
With the overwhelming support of our stakeholders, constituents, and the City of Oklahoma City, we renewed the Downtown OKC Business Improvement District for another 10 years. This will allow us to continue to serve our community and our mission to maintain a healthy and vibrant downtown.
On behalf of our neighbors and districts, thank you for continuing to support small and local downtown businesses. We encourage you to continue supporting local all throughout the new year, including the 59 new businesses that opened downtown in 2020.
With Peace & Gratitude,
Downtown Oklahoma City Partnership
