We're celebrating the many women who continue to contribute to downtown. By owning businesses and being an empowering force in the community, they inspire women throughout Oklahoma City and beyond. This month in our Local Spotlight, we will specifically feature women-owned businesses and community leaders. We encourage you to show them your support throughout the month of March, and all year round.
PLANT
A NOTE FROM OWNER

 E M M A  R Y A N

Hi! My name is Emma Ryan and I am the founder and owner of Plant in Midtown. We are a plant-based cafe that specializes in anti-inflammatory foods, or as we like to call it, food that loves you back.
We opened in August of 2019 with one thing in mind, and that was to plant inspiration into your daily lives. We believe that eating plants will make you feel better which enables you to live more, and it truly is that simple. Our purpose began after I was diagnosed with cancer several years ago. When I experienced first-hand just how much a plant-based diet could do for me, I knew I had to not only share it with others but make it accessible to the community I loved and had grown up in.

My go-to is Mode and Chirps & Cheers, of course! Living a busy lifestyle, I love being able to run into Chirps & Cheers and find the perfect gift when I’m in a pinch. I also love to wander down to Mode when I need something to wear to a special function and of course have forgotten to plan ahead of time. They always have something affordable. Overall, I simply love shopping locally.

I mean… am I allowed to say Plant? I know I am biased, but it’s definitely my favorite! However, I do frequent Stella’s, Ludivine, R&J’s, and Packards

Dust Bowl! When I’m looking for a fun night out or simply something to go do with a friend, nothing beats walking around the block for some bowling fun. I can’t say I’m good, but I’m definitely going to have a good time.

 E M P O W E R I N G  W O M E N
Well, we are women-owned and women-managed! Not necessarily by design, but that’s just how it happened. We employ a lot of women and we can only hope that we are setting a positive example and showing them that their dreams are within reach.
