If you’ve walked by the Downtown Oklahoma City Basketball Court on a warm weekend, you’ve likely seen folks from The Cage OKC out playing basketball. The Cage is Oklahoma City's only premier streetball organization whose mission is to unite the community and provide a venue for up-and-coming basketball players in Oklahoma. They do this by hosting leagues, tournaments, and events for men, women, and youth.
This year, the league is celebrating 10 years of success. The organization began in 2012 when Avery Stevenson, OKC native and Western Heights graduate, discovered the newly built Downtown Oklahoma City Basketball Court while attending the Festival of the Arts. After 3 seasons with the Harlem Superstars, Stevenson realized his dream of contributing to the development
and growth of Oklahoma City and moved back with a vision for a community-based platform that brought the streetball culture to downtown OKC.
"I love being a community leader, it gives me pride in setting a standard and being an example of how black-owned businesses can be successful and professional," said Stevenson.

"For 10 years we have continued to develop a culture that did not previously exist in our city while creating a nationally known brand. This year we will celebrate not only 10 years of operation but also 10 years of success."
The Cage 3X Celebration 3v3 Basketball Tournament for men and women will take place on Saturday, March 5 with the 3X League tipping off on Friday, March 25. Find more information and get tickets by visiting the Eventbrite page.

Learn more about the history behind The Cage OKC and its founder Avery Stevenson by watching this Oklahoma City Streetball mini-documentary on YouTube created in 2018.
