Kevin D. McComas, 58, passed away peacefully after a dignified and lengthy battle against brain cancer on Oct. 2, 2018, at the VA Medical Center in Martinsburg, WV.
Born on May 1, 1960, in Lincoln, Nebraska, Kevin was the son of the late Ronald D. McComas and Freida May McComas.
Kevin was a 1978 graduate of Governor Thomas Johnson High School. He then graduated from the U.S. Air Force fuel specialist course at Chanute AFB in Rantoul, Illinois, before serving four years at Andrews AFB. Kevin leveraged his military experiences for a lifetime career with US Air (Pittsburgh) and Atlas Air (Miami) where he was an accomplished loadmaster.
Kevin was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his brother Jeff of Austin, Texas; Esther Hudson, aunt, Iowa; and cousins Susan Camp and Allen Hudson, Iowa.
Kevin was an avid golfer and proud member of numerous VFW Post 3285 MD State teams. He also enjoyed Cruise vacations and occasional trips to Charles Town and Las Vegas casinos.
Kevin was a man of faith and grew up attending the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Frederick. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, Oct. 20, at 4 p.m. at the VFW Post 3285 in Frederick; family and friends are encouraged to attend and share memories.
