Dear VFW members,
On behalf of the VFW, I hope you and your family are safe and doing well during the COVID-19 quarantine. I’ve recently spoken to Joe Allen, the current Commander of VFW Post 3285, and he has made the decision to partially reopen our Post to the current membership. As President of the VFW Country Club, with the assistance of the incoming Commander Patrick Pierson, I have the responsibility of making sure that the Post follows proper social distancing and disinfection guidelines as per the instructions of Governor Hogan, the Maryland Liquor Board, and other local authorities. The Post’s new hours (subject to change) are Monday through Friday at 4 pm and Saturday/Sunday at 12 noon until close (at the bartenders’ discretion). All hours are subject to change going forward. These hours will go into effect on Thursday, June 4th.
I realize that the Post’s membership has been isolated for a long time due to COVID-19 and I am sure everyone would like to get out and socialize again with your friends in a safe way. We can do this by providing outdoor seating for food and drinks. The upper deck, lower deck, and gazebo, including tables/seating, have been power washed and sanitized in preparation. Sanitation protocols in between patrons are planned.
While we are excited to re-open in a limited capacity, we want to stress the importance of social distancing. Tables/chairs have been set up to keep our members at a safe distance apart. Capital Crave is available to order food. Drinks can be ordered at our bar by calling the VFW bar at 301-662-3547. Drinks will be delivered to the back door on the upper deck. Currently, the inside area of the bar is closed to everyone. Jar tickets and wall machine tickets can also be ordered by phone.
Bathrooms are open to VFW members on the first floor. Upstairs bathrooms can be used by using the main entrance to the building. Please do not bring coolers in as we cannot monitor what is inside.
The Post can now sell alcohol drinks to go. Please contact the VFW bar by the above number to order available to-go drinks.
We are happy to see our bartenders and our neighbors at Capital Crave back working and we hope our members will join in our generosity for those that have been out of work.
I wish to thank our membership in advance and look forward to seeing all of you again. Extra thanks to the current and upcoming VFW and VFW Auxiliary officers and bartenders. Extra thanks to Patrick Pierson, Val Main, Joe Allen, Jeff Mallory, and Tommy Wilson for their hard work preparing the Post for opening.
Yours in service,
President, VFW Country Club
