Awareness is like the sun. When it shines
on things, they are transformed. 

 

August is the month of awarenessUltimately we practice yoga because it helps us to live our daily lives. It helps to cultivate awareness and refine the mind. By practicing yoga we become more aware of our bodies, our breath, our thought patterns and our mind.

So, why is awareness important? 

If we live and act without awareness we act on our strongest impulses - our mind is controlling us. When we act with awareness we have control of our minds. A clear mind is powerful, it helps us to make decisions, increases our creativity and productivity. We become more sensitive to our surroundings and to others, we are non-reactive and listen. We become kinder and more awakened human beings. Being aware brings us into the present moment which enables us to live a more joyful life.

The secret to awareness is to be the observer;  to just watch and notice the body and the mind, to be the witness.
