6th Annual Cougar Challenge

Just a reminder that the 6th Annual Cougar Challenge Walk-a-Thon will be this Friday, October 6th!!!  We have sent out a sign-up sheet for volunteers for that day.  If you did not receive the Volunteer Opportunities sign-up email and would like to be included, please follow this link: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0c4ba4af2da6f58-5thannual2 to see what opportunities are available and to sign up.  We would love to see all of you!

Here are the walk times for the kids:

8:20a – 8:50a: ESE, Kindergarten (Track A), and 1st grade (Track B)
9:00a – 9:30a: 2nd grade (Track A) and 3rd grade (Track B)
9:40a – 10:10a: 4th grade (Track A) and 5th grade (Track B)

 Please remember to turn in your pledge sheets to your child’s teacher on walk day.  Check “completed” on the pledge sheet if your sheet is finished and all monies have been collected.  If you are not finished and/or need to collect monies, we will include a “collection envelope” for you to collect your pledges and return to you.  You may continue to collect one-time donations until Oct. 20th which is the final collection due day to be eligible for the prizes.  See the Cimino PTA website (Cougar Challenge Prizes) for more details about the amazing prizes this year!

**Just a reminder for the kids to wear sneakers, sunscreen and bring a water bottle.  Water will also be provided at the walk.

 
A Facebook link has been made this year for those of you who would like to send to out-of-town guests. 
Go to Cimino PTA Facebook Page for the link. Feel free to write your own write up on the top of the shared link.  There is also an editable version on the Cimino PTA Website (Sample Letter in Word) that can be used to email your family and friends.

All participants that bring in any amount of money will get a “mystery” prize.  Even if you bring in $1! 
We hope that all of you participate and make this the only school-wide fundraiser for the year!  Go Cimino Cougars!!!!

PTA Paint Night & General Assembly


Sign up Today!

Cimino Elementary students & parents are
invited to attend the PTA Paint Night. We will
be painting a scene together on an 8x10
canvas. There is no painting experience
necessary, as children and parents alike will be
led step by step through the painting process by
an artist. A pizza dinner will be served as well.
This experience is completely FREE to all
our PTA Booster members and their children, ages 5
and up.

Fall Festival

Join us for Cimino's Annual Fall Festival Friday, October 27th at 4:00pm! Join us for games, bounce houses, food and live entertainment from Cimino's own chorus. Hope to see you there!


 Pre-sale ticket forms are coming soon. You can also purchase tickets at the event, cash only and small bills please.

Story Book Parade


Tuesday, October 31st @ 8:30AM 

Do you have a FAVORITE BOOK? A favorite BOOK CHARACTER? It’s time for you to show us what you like to read!

Celebrate by dressing up as your favorite book character. Will you be Junie B? Or Fudge? Harry Potter? Fancy Nancy? Johnny Appleseed? There are so many wonderful characters to choose. Do you know that most of the characters in books look just like you? Homemade costumes are the best! Be creative! Remember to carry the book of your favorite character so we will know who YOU are!!!

ALL children may participate in this event as ALL of our CHILDREN are READERS! (Children can change clothes after this event if they need to.)
Some grade levels have chosen a class project or a grade level project (such as each child being a cat from “Millions of Cats”). Other classes prefer individual student expression. Check with your classroom teacher for how they will be participating!

All costumes should be positive in nature. For safety reasons, NO Masks or High Heels are allowed. NO weapons or anything similar is permitted on campus.

Year Book Sales 2017-2018

The 2017-2018 Yearbook Pre-Order Sale begins Wednesday, October 11th

Cimino has the best elementary school yearbook around! It is a beautiful hard-cover, full color book showcasing each class and great activities throughout the year. To view a copy from a previous year, stop by the office or ask your child’s teacher (many teachers have one in their classrooms). Our yearbook team does a fantastic job, and the kids (and parents) love having a memento of their years at Cimino!

he pre-order price of $20 per yearbook is only through November 7, 2017 and then the yearbook goes to it's regular price of $25 per yearbook.

Stay tuned for pre-sale order forms to be posted to Peachjar and sent home in your child's Wednesday folder.

 

Operation Patriot

Be a part of giving back to those who fought to keep us free!
The residents of Baldomero Lopez State Veterans Nursing Home need your help!
120 Veterans from World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War and Gulf War reside at the home.
They receive $35 a month to purchase every day, personal needs.
For most residents, this is all the money they have.
Cash donations or gift cards will also be accepted and items will be purchased.

PTA Reflections

The arts—and National PTA® Reflections—support student success and serve as a valuable tool for engaging families and building strong partnerships in the school community. Founded in 1969, Reflections engages nearly 300,000 students and their families in arts education activities each year by encouraging students to explore the arts for fun and recognition.

This year’s PTA Reflections theme is “Within Reach.”  Tell us your story by expressing your creativity in the categories of dance choreography, film production, poetry, short story, music composition, photography and visual art. All grades and abilities are welcome to participate. Start planning your entry for October 2017. More information coming soon!

All Pro Dads   

Cimino PTA is proud to offer the terrific All Pro Dads program again this year!  All Pro Dads meets one Friday a month in the Multi-Purpose Room at 7:00 a.m. for about 50 minutes. Breakfast and coffee are provided at each meeting as well as a healthy dose of humor, laughter, and encouragement.  The kids really enjoying bringing Dad to school and feel special being a part of this "club". Make a real and profound difference in your child's life.  It's free and pays HUGE dividends. The first breakfast will be Friday, October 20st.  Join us!

Green Team

Green Team meeting Wednesday 10/25 @ 2:15pm. Green Team members are for 3rd, 4th and 5th graders. Parents are welcome and encouraged to join!!
