The USASA Student Board needs your help!

You may have heard a few things recently about the Job Ready Graduates Package that is currently passing through Parliament. Amazingly, there is only one vote required to block this bill from passing through the Senate, and that vote is from a South Australian.

The Job Ready Graduates Package has enshrined within in it a cut to higher education funding, an increase in fees to some courses of 113%, and a nasty new rule that will remove your access to a HECS loan if you fail too many subjects.

These measures are going to lock generations of students out of an education, and disproportionately affect students from poorer backgrounds, students who struggle with their mental health, students with disabilities, students from the regional areas of our state, and our Aboriginal students.

We now need you to help. Students, staff, and families. We need you all to contact the two Members who hold the vote on this bill, Rebekha Sharkie MP and Senator Stirling Griff.

Tell these Members of Parliament that you don’t agree with this bill!

Send a pre-written email (click the link) or email them directly at:
Rebekha.Sharkie.MP@aph.gov.au
senator.griff@aph.gov.au

Call their offices:
Rebekha Sharkie MP - (08) 8398 5566
Senator Stirling Griff - (08) 8212 1409
