Pastor's Corner

Dear Friends,

Spring is finally here! As I write this to you, I'm looking out the window of my office at a half-dozen bradford pear trees bursting with white flowers. I'm very thankful for the mild weather and the chance to be outside!
Speaking of being outside, we will have our second annual Spring Picnic at Monte Sano on Sunday, May 3rd after church. I hope you can join us for this wonderful time of fellowship in God's creation.
It's hard to believe that Easter is upon us. For this reason, during Holy Week, we are going to take a break from our sermon series on Kingdom Living and look further in the Gospel of Matthew and view Easter through his eyes.  Our study of Easter Through the Eyes of Matthew will begin on Palm Sunday, continue with a special communion service on Good Friday at 7pm, and wrap up with the joy of Easter morning. We will see Jesus as A Humble King, A Serving King, and A Risen King.
One last thing to note, on June 8-12, 2015 the 43rd annual PCA General Assembly will be held just a short drive away from Huntsville in Chattanooga, TN. I'm very thankful that GA will be so close to home to ease the travel burden for many in the South. I mention this to you so that you can begin praying for the work of our denomination, but also to invite you to worship at GA that week. One of my favorite parts of GA is the evening worship that will take place on TuesdayWednesday, and Thursday of that week. This large gathering of five thousand plus believers from across the PCA is such a great reminder of how vast, diverse, and connected the Lord Jesus' Church truly is. Please plan to attend that week if you can.
The theme for the Assembly is Anchored in Christ - Active in Culture. This truly is the hope and prayer for our denomination as we seek to be "Faithful to the Scriptures, True to the Reformed Faith, and Obedient to the Great Commission of Jesus Christ." To learn more about GA please visit: I will share more details as the time gets closer.
In Christ, your pastor,
Worship Notes for Sunday, March 22:
  • Our brother Ralph Keel will be preaching this Sunday on "Life Questions". Please be in prayer for Coach Keel.
  • As responsive reading and confession of faith, we will use the first question of the Heidelberg Catechism which asks, Q. What is your only comfort in life and in death? A. That I am not my own, but belong body and soul, in life and in death to my faithful Savior, Jesus Christ. He has fully paid for all my sins with his precious blood, and has set me free from the tyranny of the devil. He also watches over me in such a way that not a hair can fall from my head without the will of my Father in heaven; in fact, all things must work together for my salvation. Because I belong to him, Christ, by his Holy Spirit, assures me of eternal life and makes me wholeheartedly willing and ready from now on to live for him. (The Heidelberg Catechism, Question 1). This is a wonderful truth of the faith! This catechism question would be well worth your time memorizing and meditating on with your family.
  • "To Live is Christ" is a new song that will be sung during the offertory this SundayClick here to listen
